Hey everyone, I am Brynn Alise, a landscape and wildlife photographer from Boulder, Colorado with a passion for conservation. I love all things outdoors - both mountains and oceans. I grew up in a beach-side town and moved to Colorado after college, so I love both. I spend my free time hiking, camping, backpacking, cross-country skiing, hanging out with my husband and boys while they climb (I only climb a little), visiting family back home at the beach, and taking photos of everything in nature.
I got into photography six years ago and I shoot mainly in the Colorado Rockies, the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE), Wyoming, Montana, California, and Maui. These are the places that are all home to me and own my heart. I have a background in environmental planning and the Endangered Species Act and try to use this background and knowledge along with my photography to educate others. I spent 18 months with Nature First Photography on staff there to help promote ways to protect our wild places as well.
When I am not out taking photos, I am working for a non-profit my husband and I started over ten years ago called E4 Project. We equip national church leaders in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Gabon, Africa to defend the cause of the poor and needy through medical and social outreach programs. I have been to Africa a couple of times and can't wait to go back. My favorite moment was in Africa. After working with our partners on the ground in Gabon for a couple of weeks, we spent a week in Kenya in the city of Nairobi and then on safari on the Masai Mara. Our family did a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti during the migration. It was the most magical moment I have experienced. I wasn't a photographer then, but my husband was. We have some excellent photos from the trip, but I only took a few. A couple years after this, he started getting back into climbing much more, and I took all the gear and started photography. I have never looked back from that first time I picked up a camera on a solo outing photographing bighorn sheep. I was absolutely hooked (and pretty much took over all his gear).
I love to write almost as much as I love to take photos, so this will be a great place for me to share some of my creative moments with you all! I write about photography, trip planning, best ideas for travel destinations, gear, environmental and conservation issues, and personal posts that I think have value for others. I will start posting soon, but in the meantime, feel free to check out my work on Instagram and Twitter.
And a huge shout-out to @caseygrimley @intrepidphotos for helping me get on here. I had a million questions to get started and they were both so helpful. I am so thankful for the nature photography community and friends I have made along the way, and the willingness our community has to help each other out. I am looking forward to getting to know more of you here!
