Hi, I'm Margot

Hi, I’m Margot.  I’m new here and Steemit is such a new idea for me.  I’m excited to be on board.  I look forward to experiencing Steemit life and finding out more about you and your life.  In the meantime, here’s a little bit about me and the things I love.

WHERE DO I LIVE?

I live in South East Queensland, Australia - in Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland and also at the Gold Coast.  When I’m at the Gold Coast, I love walking on the beach in the early mornings.

 The beach goes on forever...

The Gold Coast will host a big sporting event soon – The Commonwealth Games, so there is a lot going on around town to get ready for visitors.

WHAT DO I LOVE?

I have three big loves – three things that I am forever interested in and always discovering more about. They are Art, Energy & Intuition.  Read on if you're interested.

1.   ART

I love art, especially visual art. I ran away to art school at age 17 trying to escape a world I couldn’t quite understand.  I didn’t become a professional artist but what I learnt about creativity and freedom has been with me my whole life.  Recently, I’ve been doing a lot of travel sketching.  It’s a fun way to connect with where you are, even when you are busy doing other things.  Here are some local sketches of Broad Beach, near where I live. It’s something about the visual side of your brain… it helps my mind become quiet.  I can see things holistically and I feel happy to be in the moment.

I also like to paint Buddhas - in non-traditional ways.  I am not a Buddhist (or any particular religion), but I love what the Buddhist teachings have shown me about openness and how my mind works.  This is the Yellow Buddha, Ratnasambhava – he is connected with the Earth element and the season of Spring.

…and I love to do painting experiments, never knowing how they will end up.  Here is large lacquered rice paper experiment I did called “Jewel”.

2.    ENERGY

Like I said, I love visual art but what I really love is making things that help people.

I’m interested in the energy behind things
and how you can leave your energy signature on what you do
in a way that makes a difference.

I first saw this in the art of the ancient Taoist Masters who would ‘draw’ medicine for people to hang on their walls.

Then I actually met a Chinese Chi Master who did one of these medicine drawings for me!  I took it home and put it on my wall.  I was surprised at how much warmth came out of the paper for weeks afterwards.  When I stood in front of it, it changed my energy and made my whole body feel peaceful and calm.

I was so inspired by what I learnt from that experience that I have studied with Chi Master Yang for many years.  Working with the human energy field really is a new frontier.  Our energy really does connect with the whole universe.

Here is Chi Master Yang at the famous Heaven Temple site in Beijing (left) and connecting with the energy of an ancient bell in the south of China (right).

 3.    INTUITION

…and that brings me to what I love most, intuition.  I’m not talking about clairvoyance here although that’s part of it.  I’m talking about that deep knowing that comes from somewhere inside your soul.

Some people call it Whole-body-intelligence, Source Energy, or the Higher-Self.  I don’t mind what it’s called.  I just love how that connection feels.  It feels like home.  I love getting quiet and tuning into it.  I love listening to that inner voice and feeling for my inner vision.  I love exploring how to communicate with it.

The messages I get always surprise me.  They are so simple yet they always unlock something that allows my life to flow more fully.  The messages come as words, images or just a feeling.  They are always gentle, good humored, warm and uplifting.  They free my spirit.

I believe we’ve done a great job of the information age.
Where we need to move now is towards our intuition, our inner guidance
about what to do with all this information.

It’s fun to learn how to get intuitive messages.  Art and Energy practicing can help you stay connected.  Along the way your spirit gets aligned with a greater space.  These are the things I hope to write about here on Steemit.  If you are interested, I hope you will follow me and share in this journey.
