Hello Steemit please allow myself to introduce......myself!

Hello Steemit! Welcome to Armadillo Creek! I am so excited to be a part of the Steemit world! On my page I plan on sharing my love of Art, Animals, Nerdy things and my journey starting a 14 acre homestead my wife and I decided to buy here in the Missouri Ozarks. Let me tell you a little bit of a story on how I got here:

A few years ago, I was working as a mid level manager for a data center services company. I lived deep in the Denver Metro area and enjoyed all aspects of a life in the city. I worked a desk job that paid well, gave me full benefits, vacation, holidays, 401k, the works. I was paying off an engagement ring and looking forward to starting a life in the Denver Suburbs, settling down and starting a family. I thought I had it all planned out. Small house in the city, maybe a vacation timeshare somewhere, a couple of cars, the perfect life.

Sadly, I was met with a tragedy that altered the course of my life forever. In 2015 my mother passed away very suddenly due to a stroke. It shook me to my very core and changed my life forever...
When she passed, it took every single ounce of happiness and joy from my life. I had just started to get my life together in my mid 30s and I had thought that I had at least another 20 or 25 years with her to see me get married, have a family, and a life she would be proud of. She was the single constant that I had ever had in my life. The only person I could ever confide in, and she would never judge me.

From that moment, I started to ask myself "What am I accomplishing with my life? What am I leaving behind other than an overpriced house and a mountain of middle class debt if I were to die? Am I happy sitting in a cubicle taking phone calls from people who make 10 times more than I will ever see? Spending 2 hours each day in traffic to work 12 hour shifts to come home, spend maybe 30 minutes with someone you love more than life then go to bed and start over? Where is the happiness? Where is the "Life" outside of the office?

My wife and I decided after we got married, that the city life was no longer for us. We wanted out. We wanted a piece of land and a small house with a garden and animals that make us happy. I want to live closer to the earth, eat healthier, and leave a legacy for my family to follow for generations. So we saved a little, pinched alot, and gave up everything in Denver and moved to the Missouri Ozarks in 2017.

With this page, I will be sharing our journey, our crafts, experiences and how-tos as we build this new life in a new way!

Here are a few things about me and what you may see on our page!

I have always been a nature kid. From the time I was a small boy I have always enjoyed camping, hiking, and living closer to the outdoors.

I am also a reenactment, medieval fighting, and cosplay nerd and make my own costumes, props, and equipment:

We also love animals of all sorts and will be raising them for our own uses!

Thank you for stopping by and I will be sharing more as the days go by!

Very nice , and glad to have you here . I wish you a lot of success!

Thank you, same to you!

You’re welcome

I'm a little late to the party, but I'm glad to meet you! My son does Dagorhir (or something spelled like that) here in our area of the Ozarks. We also raise chickens and we have sheep. Our house is run by our 9 dogs and 3 kids. I guess the boy doesn't count as a kid anymore, he's 18! Haha! Anyway, I'm off to hit that follow button so I can keep up! Welcome to steemit!

Welcome to steemit! If you are ever looking for a group, actually a community, of homesteaders/gardeners/self-sufficient like-minded people, I am the moderator of a group here... also the "un"official ambassador to the group.

Welcome AC, you are very brave, I think its amazing when people have the courage to follow their dreams. Look forward to following your progress. Great Intro. Resteemed and followed.

Thank you! I am excited to share what I have learned and will learn as time goes by. The community here has been so inviting, its unlike any other community site Ive been on LOL!!!

Oh yes. What a great post. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your mum but your new matrix-free life looks absolutely amazing. Kudos to you both/all - I WANT THOSE PUPPIES! And I'm a great fan myself of the medieval Sir Robin of Loxley....steem on - see you around :) Resteemed....

Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I love my puppies, they are my little balls of herp derp! Half cattle dog, half Pomeranian! Can you believe it haha!!!

Thanks for the condolences. I have done everything in my power to turn her death into something positive, and so far it has become the story you are hearing today, and I dont think I will ever stop moving forward and making her proud! :)

Perhaps, at a different level of herself she could see how the world was changing, and how you needed to get out of the matrix with your partner in order to reach your full future potential...and so your children would be healthy and sane and grounded in reality e.g. nature....perhaps her checking out was her greatest heartfelt gift to you all? If that's the case then, as you say, she's be total;ly proud of you. But that's just one way of seeing it. I hope I haven't caused offense. Whatever, now you say "Pom cross", I understand where that melt-me-now cuteness comes from.....and, yes, I don't think you'll have trouble selling any puppies from the next generation :)

No offense taken at all! Thank you!

Awesome intro man! Welcome to Steemit!

Thanks! I am really excited to start my Steemit journey! I cant believe the following I am getting on my posts already!
