Finally my steemit account is ready. I hung out in the steemit chat for a while to pass the time until I got the approval mail - and now it's done. I also passed the time by reading about all the things I have to dive into now: dtube, ipfs, steem itself...
The TL;DR about me:
- software development
- crossfit
- gaming
- video editing/photography
- introvert, but trying...
Ok, now let's fill this out a bit.
(BTW, the beard is still growing. I try to get out of the awkward beard phase, but it may take a couple more weeks...)
From the time I put my hands on the first computer (an Amstrad CPC64) I knew that I would do something with that piece of technology. I played around with it, learned BASIC because the computer came with a manual and ran BASIC when it started up, and in general became interested in the technology. Since then I owned an Amiga 500, Pentium PCs, several Laptops, a Macbook (wouldn't buy Mac hardware anymore though), the original Iphone 3G, half a dozen Android Smartphones, multiple Xbox 360s, a Playstation Portable, a Playstation 3, latest addition is a Nintendo Switch... you get the picture. Almost all of the consoles and smartphones I jailbreaked and put custom ROMs on it, just for the fun of it.
Around 1995 I learned about something called "the internet" and I got my parents to allow me to buy a modem. During the school breaks I would set my alarm clock to midnight, because the phone connection was cheapest during the hours between one and five in the morning, and browse the internet via Altavista and read usenet posting about everything.
I am also a Linux user since the very first days. I can remember installing my first Linux from disks, maybe 10 or 12 of the good old 1.44MB ones. It was a constant battle to get it running, but after a while I poured enough time into it and was able to run an old PC with an ISDN interface and provide connectivity for me and everyone in the household - not that anyone else was that much interested back then... I still use Linux installations of various kinds, from Xubuntu to ArchLinux to whatever systems I have to deal with on my job.
Well, fast forward 2 decades and I'm a software developer working on the backend side of computer systems and am still learning a lot.
Besides that I decided one day that I don't want to be the fat developer guy, so I got into sports. Well, not sports, strength training. I became a gym rat, doing what everybody else did and it helped my not get all the office job issues that a lot of my colleagues deal with. About 4 years ago I started doing crossfit, because although I am decently strong for a office worker, I didn't feel very fit at all. I think doing this 4 or 5 times a week and caring about my nutrition and what kind of food I put into my body helps me staying healthy. I do have some issues with my shoulders and occasionally tweak my back, but overall I feel pretty good.
Ok, I guess that concludes my first, lengthy post on this platform. Hope to meet a lot of you!
Glad to meet you and glad you managed not to turn into the fat guy making all that developing stuff. Keep it on and all the best on steemit!
Thanks a lot. Nice beard pic, I hope mine doesn't get too curly for something like that...
Nice to meet you. I hope you like Steem. Welcome to this great community
It's a bit confusing when starting, but I think I'll make it through the initial phase. 😀
Welcome to Steemit. It's a great place for writers to get rewarded for their work.
Good luck
Welcome to steemit brother. Keep the beard growing you'll make it out!
Thanks! I try to go full Wolverine with the beard. Or at least that's the plan until the barber tells me otherwise... 🧔

You're close - I'm from Germany. 🇩
I am aware of the notifications issue, think here are no notifications on this website yet...
Да, с уведомлениями какая-то беда, мне тоже не приходят.
I think nobody is receiving any notifications here, thats quite an issue
