This is @appent, which is an abbreviation of Apprentice Entrepreneur (which is how I think of myself as I'm still learning) AKA Dave Everett. I'm told by my mentor @hopehuggs that the first thing I should do is verify myself, so here goes:
I would like to publicly thank @hopehuggs for the introduction to Steemit via her excellent book Post2Profit. So, having got the formalities out of the way, who am I?
My Career History
Unless someone can correct me, at 72 years of age I could very well be the oldest member here, although I must confess that my age causes me no concern whatsoever.
I was born at a very early age at Colchester in the UK, then followed the natural progression from childhood, through schooling, to adulthood. Although I attended a grammar school and gained 3 GCEs along the way, my career path has been very unorthodox and varied.
I began my work life training to become an accountant, until I realized that in order to be successful I would need to study five nights a week for the next five years. (Holds hands up in horror!) That plan quickly fell by the wayside (one of my first life changing errors) and I settled for a more mundane job and began enjoying life.
By the time I was 22 I had held 22 jobs, which finally made me realize that I needed to settle down and try to get somewhere in life, so I enlisted in the Royal Air Force as a photographer. Initially signing up for 5 years, I later extended my service to 12 years, spending the last four of them with the ground crew of the Red Arrows aerobatic team.
After leaving the RAF I was mainly involved in sales and sales management until I retired.
My Internet History
As far as the internet is concerned, I have been involved in one way or another for around 20 years. In keeping with thousands of others I suffered from that deadly disease "Bright Shiny Object" syndrome, resulting in many thousands of dollars being spent with very little to show for it.
Currently I am concentrating on just 2 potential income avenues. This (Steemit) is the first one, and the publication of journals, planners etc is the second.
Future Plans
It is my sincere hope that with my varied experiences I can provide some entertainment value for those that choose to follow me. I hope it is YOU that I will be speaking to in the near future.
Dave Everett

Hello welcome to steemit ☺️ it's really nice to have you here enjoy the platform and explore the community
Yes, that's my intention. Not too bothered about earnings to begin with, just need to find my way around and see how everything works.

Many thanks for the heads up and advice. I will follow your advice subject to the comment made by @nikv
Welcome Dave! Lovely post, I look forward to following you! I too suffer from " bright shiny object" syndrome lol. Happy steeming to you!
That BSO is a killer for sure. I've learned my lesson now and only buy things that will help with an existing project.
That is great advice, thank you!
Welcome Dave. I'm also in @Hopehuggs group. She has created an support community for us to share and grow together. I look forward to your future posts.
Yes, the support community has been my only real contact so far, but I have found @HopeHuggs to be very helpful. Look forward to reading more of your posts.
Welcome @Appent, love having you as a member of the Mastermind - Apprentice Entrepreneur, I like that. Publishing journals? I have software for that too in my shiny object collection. One day, one day...
Thanks for your support @HopeHuggs - it has been extremely helpful over the last week. The publishing of journals is a relatively new venture for me, so have only published a few so far. We live in hope...
Hi David, I love your username it so apt and appropriate. I am another victim of the Bright Shiny Object Syndrome.
22 jobs and only 22 that was some going. I bet you travelled a lot with the RAF too, so even though you were settled with your career you would have kept having a change, which is as good as a rest.
Good luck and looking forward to reading your posts.
I think more people than care to own up to it have been (or are) subject to BSO. However, I think I am over it now, but I used to be a real sucker for a good sales letter. You're right about service life and I daresay I might think of a few tales to tell here.
Your welcome to steemit sir
