Healthy life

There are several things you can do to live a better lifestyle, from following a healthy diet to exercising regularly. The ultimate focus should be on living a life that you can be proud of, while also avoiding health problems; or reverse them if they already exist.

If you're still in doubt, think about how living a healthy lifestyle can benefit you ten years down the line. When your focus is on the purpose of living healthy, then you'll start acting right by taking steps towards making it a reality.

Below are some ways you can start living a healthy lifestyle today.

  1. Exercise and Sleep well: Exercise and quality sleep go together. With the right exercise routine, good sleeping habits and nutrition, you can live a healthy lifestyle that positively impacts your entire life. Sleep is also an important remedy to certain health challenges like stress and over eating. Well rested people have more control of their appetite; the longer you stay awake, the more likely you are to get hungry anyway. A decent 7-hour sleep is recommended for healthy living. Research actually shows that physical activity impacts overall quality of sleep.

  1. Personal hygiene: Mouth or body odour announces you in a really bad way; you do not want people taking three steps back for every step you take towards them. You have to practice those hygiene instructions strictly - "brush your teeth, especially your tongue twice a day", "take a bath with soap at least once a day", "floss daily". Avoid smelly food and drinks like onions, garlic and alcohol. Drink more water and chew gum to prevent bad breath. Use antiperspirant to reduce sweating, change and wash your clothes regularly and let your shoes air dry. Women already shave armpit hair, men should too; it keeps your pores open and gives no room to bacteria.

  1. Eat Healthy Foods: Choose foods that contains minimal amounts of unhealthy fats, low sugar and organic ingredients. Minimize your consumption of sweets, but instead choose whole fruits, freshly-squeezed juices, and whole grain bread instead. The trick to weight loss and staying fit is knowing that calories burnt should exceed calories taken in. It is important not to starve yourself because you quickly pile up the pounds when you feed that ravenous hunger at a go. Instead, eat little portions of healthy foods 5-6 times a day.

  2. Laugh: The good old medicine of the soul has been tested and proven by scientists over the decades. Laughter will relieve stress, improve your mood, prevent heart disease and even boost your immunity. If you are anxious or afraid, try smiling often and laughing. It also makes you more attractive and strengthens relationships; so what are you waiting for, laugh already.

  1. Practice Meditation and Form Healthy Relationships :

Spend quality time with yourself by having your 'me time' and meditating. Meditate at least 20 minutes every day; build relationships with family and friends. Research shows that loneliness often leads to depression and lonely people have a higher risk of heart disease. Healthy relationships with other people also helps challenge your mind which stimulates the brain and makes dementia less likely according to observational studies.

They are no set rules to living healthy, the key is first to accept your body then find the regimen that works for you and stick to it. Don't be too hard on yourself when you go off tangent on your regimen, we all do but only those who pickup where they left off get results.

In order to live longer and avoid health problems down the line, it's important to recognize the aspects of your life that you can control right now; your health and daily habits are definitely one of them. When you do achieve results, remember to celebrate your little victories, it would greatly help you move towards the next milestone to a much healthier you.
