RE: Hi Steemit! I'm Adam Carter - Independent Journalist, Guccifer 2.0/DNC Hack Debunker

Thanks for highlighting Stockwell, I'll go read up about the trial and what he had to say.

Have to admit, regarding the risks - I have had some concerns about reprisals as there is a possibility that those I've attributed G2 to may have had a way to learn of my real identity recently.

However, the evidence is already laid out, others are familiar with all of it now and if it wasn't me, someone else (probably one of the many who helped and supported me with my investigating and reporting) would have got sick of the G2 story being a bizarre and inconsistent mess, put everything in chronological order and then started to see the patterns, contradictions, etc and figure it out anyway), so attacking me would be far more risk than benefit (especially at this stage). ;)

Sort:

Stockwell wrote a book, In Search of Enemies, about manipulations used to wage war in Angola. An edited transcript of the Winooski 44 trial was published under the title, "Por Amor Al Pueblo (For Love of the People)." My oldest daughter was in my arms when we heard the jury's verdict, "not guilty." By the time she went to law school lit was literally a textbook example of the successful use of the necessity defense. Wikipedia has an overview and collection of materials.

It was a week-long, with incredible witnesses, including Howard Zinn, Ramsey Clark, David MacMichael, another VIPS member, Salvadoran victims, and an art therapy student who brought children's pictures of horrific war atrocities. They testified by day, and at night we had them speak at churches and town halls across the state. We attacked the government head-on. A couple of weeks later, Casper Weinberger, Reagan's defense secretary, announced the Weinberger Principles, point five of which foreswore wars that citizens didn't support. Circumstances at the time suggested the trial victory contributed to calling off the invasion of Nicaragua.
