My name is Edeh Somtochukwu Agatha @vintageverve, at home they prefer calling me ‘Tochi’ (which means Praise God) which I really prefer to other names probably because, it’s easier to pronounce and sounds more feminine and sexy.
Am the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Edeh Anyim Boniface, from Enugu part of Nigeria, I was born under the Libra Sign of Zodiac (October 8th) into the family of 5 children (1 boy and 4 girls) of which am the 3rd child. I was born in the eastern part of Nigeria called Ihienu General Hospital, Nkpor. This part of the country is where Igbo people are predominant, so I grew up speaking Igbo and English language fluently. My Mum once told me how strong and fast I was even at my tender age, she said I started walking when I was 6 months and a few days old; she weaned me off breast milk immediately I started walking.
I started and finished my nursery school in Onitsha before we (my family) relocated to Northern part of the country called Abuja, this place which was dominated by people from all walks of life was kinda best place to be because, one get to meet people from different tribes and culture, I and my immediate elder sister ‘Cynthia’ was enrolled into same Primary called ‘Fountain Nursery and Primary SchooI’, in Abuja. I grew up having few friends who came from different parts of the country. This got me acquainted to speaking a little of some of the languages like Yoruba and Hausa. After my primary school, I wrote my Common Entrance Examination which is a prerequisite for anyone aspiring to go to Junior Secondary School. I applied 2 schools ‘Command Day School’ and ‘Anglican Comprehensive Secondary School’ of which I passed both of the exams, so, I ended up choosing the school proximate to my residential area which is ‘Anglican Comprehensive Secondary School’ which was a Missionary school, I had awesome teachers there who really encouraged me to join sporting activities like running, basketball and table tennis.
After 3 years in my Junior Secondary School, when it was time to choose a school for my Senior Secondary School, My Dad felt I needed a change of environment to complete my Senior secondary school, I applied Government Secondary School Nyanya (GSSN) where I was immediately admitted, I had limited friends Ogbonna Peace (who is now a Naval Officer) and Ekene Orakwe (who is currently studying at Uni-zik). After 3 years in Senior Secondary School I was faced with challenge of gaining admission into the University.
I gained admission into University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) on 28th October 2015 to Study Marketing in the Faculty of Business Administration which is a 4 years degree programme. On 3rd November 2015, when I was about leaving home for school, I had a mixed feeling; I was feeling sad probably because, I have never stayed away from my family since I was born. I can never forget that day; I never thought I was still emotional until I got to the motor park and my dad bid me farewell after giving me the usual parental advise (read your books, make good grades, don’t join bad gangs), beads of sweats started popping out of my skin pores slowly, my eyes were red already, I tried so hard to hold back the tears, the tears involuntarily trickled down my chubby cheeks, before I knew it; I was crying aloud, I was helplessly leaning on the vehicle then, I had to cover my face with my hands (I was so ashamed of myself). Later on that day, I braced myself, comforting myself with some of the words like “gaining admission is a thing of joy” and “Tochi go and make us proud” which were some of my Dad’s last words at the Motor Park.
When I got to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, I found out here undergraduates are referred to as “Lions and Lionesses (Males and Females respectively) in the den” as I got myself acquainted to people and had wide circle of friends, sadness was gone. I didn’t find it so hard to adjust to the new environment and pursue my goals. Now am currently in my penultimate year in the university (how time flies), the whole school system can be fun and tiring at the same time. After my Bachelor’s Degree, I’ll love to further my education to Doctorate Degree Level.
My favourite food is Eba and Okro soup, I love Music (am not a good singer though), travelling and meeting people. Am a beautiful, tall, light-skinned, gracious, diplomatic, indecisive (yes! indecisive) lady with good reputation and good moral standards. Most people think am either highly principled or disciplined, I really feel it’s because I had a highly principled father who never spared the rod, who expects all your dealings and duties to be executed perfectly. Am a very interesting person (but I don’t look it), at first glance at me, you’ll think am a very boring person. And also, am very easy to talk to.
I really want to work as Public Relation Officer in a Reputable firm or Advertising firm and also be an Entrepreneur when am done with my Degree Programme in the University.
