My name is Travis. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing here on Steemit. I'm not an established content creator. I don't have a following on Youtube or any other content sharing platforms. Frankly, even posting this is goes against my introverted personality type. The main reason I am here is because I bought a 2015 Golf TDI. If you've been following the Volkswagen diesel scandal, you'll know that the final court hearing is coming up in October. The money I'll be receiving (assuming the court approves the current proposal by VW) will help me fund a life transition. I will be moving to a piece of land in Tennessee and starting a homestead. So I guess this platform will help tell and, with input from curators such as yourself, help create that story.
Now, I am completely new to content creation so I will take into consideration any suggestions or comments about how you would best like to consume this content. I am also looking to determine if there is even a demand for this type of content. So be sure to upvote if this sounds interesting you. If you have any questions for me about myself or my thoughts on certain subjects, comment below.
Welcome to Steemit and congrats on choosing to homestead. I love growing my own food and do so full time. I'm following you to see your progress. Have fun.
Growing your own food is almost a lost art at this point. Having that skill set definitely sets you apart from most people, at least here in the US. That's something I will definitely start doing when I move to Tennessee. I've already experimented with a small vegetable garden on my apartment patio. It didn't get nearly enough sunlight though. So I've mostly scrapped that idea for now but if you follow my progress over the next year you'll see my successes and failures in gardening and hopefully we can learn from each other.
Looking forward to it. I'm posting a lot about growing food. Its apple picking time right now.
Hey there @twfrancisco Welcome to steemit. I just upvoted your post. I was just like two weeks ago. I never do social media and avoid it like a vampire and garlic. Yet, steemit and the crypto community seemed like an intriguing fit for me. Best of luck with your homestead.
Hey @runrudy Thanks for the vote. The only social media I really used before was posting pictures of my dog to facebook. Not exactly useful to anyone in anyway. I think steemit seems like a great way to promote the good content over the bad and get paid doing it. Hopefully the homesteading content I'll start posting in the next few months will be more useful to people than pictures of my dog.

Check out #steemprentice in chat. I went there and they really helped me out.
I envy your ability to start homesteading now, I am working that way and am 5 years out. I think we are headed to Tennessee.
Thanks man I'll check out that chat.
I was about 5 years or so away too. The Volkswagen scandal was the only thing that made it possible to push that time table this far forward. I definitely got lucky. Tennessee is a beautiful state. The mountains are absolutely breath taking every time you see them. Anywhere in the Blue Ridge area is a great place to start a homestead. It's a great place for motorcycles too. Those mountain passes are even more exhilarating when the only thing between you, the road, and the view is a bike. I sold my bike about a year ago and I regret it everyday. I'll definitely get back on one eventually though and make to post some videos riding through the mountains.
I love eastern Tennessee, we are looking at the Chattanooga area. Yes the riding has a lot to do with it. I love western VA and NC as well as eastern KY.
