My Introduction. TruckerJoe

Hello! Thanks for reading. At this time in life I find myself free from most of the entaglements I got myself into early on in adult life. My two children have grown into responsible adults. Long ago my partner found better things to do than be married. My pay isnt garnished for child support any longer. Wow! I have surplus income for the first time in a very long while! Coming to this realization, I had to choose which path to follow. The traditional route of mortgages, credit card, utility and innumerable payment/debt schemes, or an alternative life. Although it is difficult to over come the indoctrination I received growing up, I've chosen the later. I drive>quote a truck. It doesn't sound glamorous I know but isn't beauty only skin deep? Yet this choice in career allows me to explore, and more importantly think and learn. I use audio books. One that I enjoyed the most was Vagabonding by Rolf Potts. It opened my eyes to many possibilities. By living small I've excaped the pitfalls of most Americans. It's stunning to me that over 75% live paycheck to paycheck and wouldn't be able to find $500 dollars for an emergency. The lifestyle I enjoy is one of constant travel, growing wealth and increasing freedom. I don't think I can ever completely rid myself of the Protestant work ethic, I like working but now I see it as more of a hobby. I also don't fear a change in employment or career when and if that becomes necessary.
