Greetings, friend. Welcome to Steemit! I write friend because we are friends. As a fellow lover of liberty, it is a pleasure to meet you. Please consider joining us Liberty Professionals in steemit.chat when you have the time. The information is included below.
I brew my own mead (36 gallons at the moment are brewing) and am 23% Scandinavian according to AncestryDNA. My mother has Swedish blood in her. My interest is the Vikings isn't just because of my family history or mead though.
The warrior ethos is extremely important to me, and I believe the lack of it today is one reason the world is such a mess.
There are a ton of other webpages to help you with Steemit. Here are some of the best for beginners:
https://steemd.com/ (This site is used to keep track of your voting power and other stats. You do not want to run out of voting power, and you only get so much per day. I keep my voting power around 80% for example.)
https://steem.makerwannabe.com/ (This site will tell you who follows you, who unfollows you, and who mutes you. It is great for meeting new people too. I regularly check it to see who has followed me to see if I should follow them back.)
https://steemit.chat/ (This site is the official chat webpage for Steemit. There are Discord channels too, but I usually stick to the official site. Come in to network and meet new friends. You can directly message people there too, so it makes it easier to communicate with your closest friends.)
Oh yeah, there are a lot of bots on here. If you see a cookie cutter reply, especially to your intro post, it is almost certainly a bot. Check the account's reputation. If it is low, I would recommend just ignoring them. Everything is public on Steemit, so you can go look at an account's comments and replies. Are they all the same? It's a bot.
Adding photos to your account as a new Steemian may be confusing at first too. The easiest way it to click to "Submit a Story." Once in there, use the built in Steemit tool to upload an image from your computer. Below the posting window, you will see "Insert images by dragging & dropping, pasting from the clipboard, or by selecting them." Click on the blue text. Once the image is uploaded, you can copy and paste the link into your account settings.
Verifying your identity is very important because it will get you more support and people will trust you more. The best way to verify is to link back to your Steemit account by using another public social media account. For example, I posted my Steemit articles from here through my Twitter account. Another person posted their Steemit information on their Facebook account. Some people will even post a video of themselves writing out their account information since that cannot be Photoshopped. The more famous a person is or the more valuable their content is, the more important it is that they verify. If a new account falls within those two categories and fails to verify, it may get blacklisted.
Again, welcome, and I've followed you! If you have any questions about getting started, look me up on the chat site.
Thank you!
I appreciate your comment very much, and within the first days i hope to get the time to follow your tips. and visit those sites. :)
When it comes to verifying my self i must do some of that too.
In a way i am lucky with my name that way, since it is only 1 person on this planet with my name, Petter Eliseussen, so that is usually easy.
(i must admit that it is at least 4-5 years since i looked up if there was any new people with that name, but i doubt it very much.)
I have made a direct link to my facebook profile where i use my real name.
But when i signed up here, there was not space for my name, so i had to come up with a nick name, so i become mister Rezpatex.. lol
But i realise that with a nick name, it can be more easy to think i am a scam.
(By the way, my English are not the best, and i dont know what a "bot" is, even if i think i know(not the person they say they are) but i have a feeling i can be wrong. so if you can explain it better for me, i will be greatful) :)
Bots is short for robot. They are automated accounts without a human controlling their individual actions like post replies. You're talking to yourself when you reply to them. @banjo is a bot but funny and harmless because you can talk to it. Other bots are used to scam and abuse the payout system for profit. Those bots are bad, and we need to crush them with flagging.
Hi, I'm Maddy. I am 16 years old, I have long brown hair and blue eyes.
I don't care, @banjo. Who programmed this reply? It's pretty twisted.
Fine, so what about metaphysics?
Energy is my god. What about it?
I don't know. You suddenly start talking about your age and stuff.
ehh ok?
I am Petter, i have 2 eyes, and hair too
both with colors.. :)
Sounds about the same as me.
Are you sure?
Yeah, I am. You would think so if you saw me.
Thank you again :)
You turn out to be a valuable friend.
I learned 2 new things with that answer.
I was not aware of the part about flagging neither. :)
Yes, be careful of doing bad things, for a single high power flag can ruin your reputation in one downvote. The main thing is to not spam people, and don't share links to your content in replies to other people's posts (rare exceptions...very rare).
looking at https://steemd.com/ now, and must say thank you again. :) :)
Yes, that site and the sister site to it, steemdb.com, are very helpful. One of the wonderful things about steemit.com is that everything is public... including your wallet. The only thing I've found so far that can be hidden is the memo in a wallet transaction. To hide the memo from other people, start the memo with a #. Then the person receiving the transaction can read it, but no one else can.
Later to day i shall visit your site again and take a look at more of your posts.
I have a feeling there is some interesting posts there. :)
In the beginning I was writing a lot, and I like what I wrote. Lately though, I've been engaging more and writing less. :)
Its the same here.
Much of the reason i write extra many the first day, was because i wanted to write many of the same posts i have posted on Facebook here also.
I would have at least 5-6 new post in here now, if it was not because i said yes to become a admin in a group a yesterday.
And then i had to use the next 9 hours to clean up and make that group actually work.. lol
But as so many things, when you have done the ground work, it all goes so much smoother from then on. :)
To day i have to do a lot of "peopling" and visit some people and so on.
I like people very much.
At the same time i am kind of a-social and prefere the company of most people for a pretty short time before i wish i was alone.. lol
As long as i am the one visiting, i can leave when i want.
When i have visitors, i have found a trix when i get tired of them.
I simply start to talk about geo-politics and other stuff that interest me, and then they are on their way withing 15-20 minutes.. lol
Those who still stay after that is usually so interesting that i actually manage much longer time in their company.. lol
