My Hive Introduction - My first post on Hive [ENG-ESP]

Hello everyone!

I'm new here so I'll start by introducing myself. My name is Eva, I'm 29 years old and I'm from Mexico. I recently moved to Austin, Texas with my husband. Yes, I am married and I am also mother to a beautiful but crazy 8-year-old rescue dog named Nala.

We've been living in Austin for about 6 months and so far, we love it! We’ve realized that it is a multicultural city, that is what I like the most, in addition to its landscapes, its countless parks and lakes, places to go on excursions, its thousands of activities and attractions, I feel there is always something to do, a place to go to, and there are many communities with different interests.

My interests

Photography: I really enjoy being behind the camera, I’ve been taking photos since I was 17 years old, I started using an analog camera and film, and processing and printing my own photos in the darkroom, it was really fun and exciting. There have been also a few times when I been in front of the camera and I must say, I’ve also enjoyed it a lot.

Thrifting: I love going to thrift stores, most of the clothes in mi closet come from these types of stores and second-hand bazaars, it is exciting to find vintage garments that are unique or clothes that are not necessarily vintage but that can still be worn and give them another chance. And of course I never forget to go through the decoration and furniture section, I’ve found some special gems there to decorate my apartment.

Some of the items/outfits I’ve thrifted:

Travel: I love getting to know new places, although lately I haven't traveled much, but I have a lot of photos from past trips, from when I went on an exchange study trip to Europe and I traveled like never before, so I hope to be able to share some of those photos and anecdotes here.

Food Recipes: We have been cutting red meat out of our diet for about a year, so I am always searching, inventing and perfecting vegetarian and vegan recipes to add to our meals, I have some amazing chickpea and lentil ceviche recipes that are very easy and fast and I want to share them with you.

DIY Projects: I enjoy doing DIY projects, right now I am especially focused on macramé, and together with my husband we are making our own kombucha. I will be giving you updates on how we are doing and how these projects are progressing later on.

I like home decor, with the recent move I have had many ideas to decorate and adapt this new apartment to make it a place I will enjoy and to make it feel like a home, to be an extension of us. I also love walking and picnicking in the parks, I recently found a picnic basket in one of my trips to a thrift store and can't wait to use it, I’m just waiting for the cold weather to go down a bit.

And obviously I love dogs, especially my craaaazy Nala, it's a love that everyone should know, the love of pets and towards pets, it is the best kind of love.

My husband told me a little about what Hive is, he has been playing Splinterlands for some time, and encouraged me to join Hive and share part of what I like. One of the reasons I wanted to start this blog was to share some of these interests with the community.

Since we moved we haven't had much opportunity to meet new people, largely due to covid, but also because we haven't had the opportunity to join any activities, we would love to join a bouldering gym together, and I would love to join swimming training, I love to swim since I was a kid. I would also love to join a ceramics class, I joined a curse for 5 months in my university times and really loved it. I hope we can do all of those things soon!

For now, I think it's a good space to share a bit of what I do and what I like, to connect and meet new people with similar interests as me.

Hola a todos!

Soy nueva en esto así que empezaré por presentarme. Mi nombre es Eva, tengo 29 años y soy de México. Recientemente me mudé a Austin, Texas con mi esposo. Sí, soy casada y también soy mamá de una hermosa pero tremenda perrita de 8 años llamada Nala.

Llevamos alrededor de 5 meses viviendo en Austin y lo poco que hemos conocido nos ha gustado mucho, nos hemos dado cuenta que es una ciudad multicultural, eso es lo que más me ha gustado, además de sus paisajes, sus incontables parques y lagos, lugares para hacer excursiones, sus miles de actividades y atracciones, también el downtown, siento que siempre hay algo que hacer, un lugar a donde ir, y hay muchas comunidades con intereses y gustos diferentes.

Mis intereses

Fotografía: Disfruto mucho estar detrás de la cámara, a los 17 años descubrí mi gusto por la fotografía,empecé usando una cámara análoga, revelando e imprimiendo mis propias fotos en el cuarto oscuro, me gustaba mucho hacerlo. A veces me ha tocado estar frente a la cámara y debo decir que también lo he disfrutado mucho.

Tiendas de segunda mano: Me encanta ir a las thrift stores, la mayoría de mi closet viene de este tipo de tiendas y bazares de segunda mano, es emocionante encontrar prendas vintage que son únicas o prendas no necesariamente vintage pero que se les puede seguir dando uso y darles otra oportunidad, y por supuesto nunca me olvido de pasar por la sección de decoración y muebles, siempre encuentro alguna joyita para decorar mi departamento.

Algunos de los items/outfits de segunda mano que he encontrado:

Viajes: Me encanta conocer lugares nuevos, aunque últimamente no he viajado mucho, pero tengo muchísimas fotos de viajes pasados, de cuando me fui de intercambio a Europa y me paseé como nunca, así que espero poder compartir un poco de esas fotos y anécdotas aquí.

Recetas de comida: Llevamos como un año que cortamos las carnes rojas de nuestra alimentación, así que siempre estoy buscando, inventando y perfeccionando recetas de comida vegetariana y vegana para agregar a nuestras comidas, tengo unas recetas de ceviche de garbanzo y lenteja que son muy fáciles y rápidas que quiero compartirles.

Disfruto hacer proyectos DIY, ahorita estoy enfocada en especial en macramé, y junto con mi esposo estamos haciendo nuestra propia kombucha. Les iré dando actualizaciones de cómo hacemos y cómo van avanzando estos proyectos más adelante.

Me gusta el home decor, con la reciente mudanza he tenido muchas ideas para decorar y adaptar este nuevo departamento para hacerlo un lugar en el que disfrute estar y que sienta que es parte de mi. También me encanta pasear y hacer picnic en los parques, recientemente encontré una canasta de picnic en una de mis idas a una thrift store y no puedo esperar para usarla ya que el clima lo permita.

Y obviamente amo a los perritos, en especial mi torbellina Nala, es un amor que todos deberían conocer, el amor de los perritos y hacia los perritos.

Mi esposo me platicó un poco de lo que es Hive, el tiene algún tiempo jugando Splinterlands, y me animó a unirme y compartir parte de lo que me gusta. Una de las razones por las que quise empezar este blog, fue para compartir un poco de estos intereses con la comunidad.

Desde que nos mudamos no hemos tenido mucha oportunidad de conocer gente nueva, gran parte por la precaución con el covid, pero también porque no hemos tenido oportunidad de entrar a las actividades que nos interesan como natación, bouldering o cerámica, por lo mismo que apenas nos estamos adaptando, pero espero pronto podamos.

Por lo pronto creo que es un buen canal para compartir un poco de lo que hago y me interesa para así conectar con gente nueva con gustos e intereses similares.
