Why Belly-dance?

Today, I wish to introduce you to someone who's only mistake in life was, going for her dreams...

She wanted to be just one thing! Just this person that can feel her breathe through dance! Just who she will forever be!
But, everything was so wrong with this person she wants to become...
Because of fear of what her parents wanted her to become, she couldn't just disclose this person of her's to anyone... but instead, molded a shape in secret! She lived through so many years of her life unfulfilled, most times she would peer into her dreams and still do nothing. Time wasn't on her side, of cos she had to stop dreaming and start living her dreams.

At this time, she had finished her one year program in Computer studies, and had worked few months with a mobile networking company in Lagos. She left this Job for another, which she thought of as well paid and offered her a bit of free time. She had to take up a music class, to see if she can get through to reach her dreams, but nothing was happening. She went for several auditions, to see if acting can anyway help out, but believe me it wasn't as she thought!
Mum and Dad, knew about these change of Jobs, but never a thing of what their daughter's real dream was like.
...Now, she couldn't hold back any longer... Not any more!
What she loved"BELLY DANCE" and wanted to become just "A BELLY DANCER"! AND THIS, SHE IS GONNA BECOME!

This is Maya Maghraby, an Egyptian belly dancer!

     THE DANCE!.

Belly dance is an Arabic expressive dance, which originated from Egypt. It is danced in Spain, Australia, UK, Turkey, Egypt, North America... But not in her country.
She's just a Nigerian, and this isn't their kind of dance... Shakira, had motivated her, but she isn't here to put her through!. The only option, she had was to travel out of her country, to Egypt, were she can learn and perfect this dance, after which she can bring it to her country Nigeria.
But, It wasn't that easy though... cos she was denied VISA out of her country. Now, where does she stand?
She saved up a lot from job her to get things done, and now she'd lost the job, and visa denied...

Of cos, she could have given up this dreams and illusions, for some real life stuffs, but quitting wasn't just in the options... She had to stand up for her reality!
No Job, few cash, no sponsor... Hmm, it was tough! so she started her dance classes online. Learn't all the moves that she could get hold of. turned her room into her class room... Danced for 4hrs in every 6hrs, it was crazy though.
But, her dreams, did a lot... Mum and Dad, asked that she stopped when they found out, but she just couldn't... instead, she cut-off all communications from friends and families! I wondered what she saw in her dreams. Her passion for belly dance was overwhelming!

It wasn't easy on her path, even when she started introducing what she does to some persons in her country, Nigeria... it wasn't like what they knew, so most times she felt dejected and almost wanting to give up... but because she knew that a new episode awaits her each day, she just couldn't get stuck!
It was tough getting here... This is her 2 years, in belly dance... and now every one that knows, wants to meet her!
She goes by the name...

Of cos, Everyone thought it was all a bad idea... including me.
And when I asked her, why she was really giving up everything for this dance?... she answered and said when you find just that one thing that makes you, leave everything and go for it... After that, everything will fall in place. This I understood, and now I tell you, it's just so true!
Her dreams has unearthed the gem that was hidden beneath...she isn't just a belly dancer, she's also a motivational speaker, who speaks from life's umpteen experiences, a model, a gym instructor and also her own costumier!...

Whenever I think of her and how she emerged, I feel encouraged and motivated... My sister did it, I can do it, you can do it too.... It doesn't matter where you are!
Now, she has a lot, including family!!!

Life itself, doesn't give you what you desire, you go for it... remember, Pessimism never won any battle.
You can only emerge a hero, when you have given your life to something bigger than you.

Your world can still know your name... Just don't give up too soon!
