Hey there Scott! Welcome to the community. Happy to see some DIY stuff here! I will watch out for your upcoming stuff. Out of experience, I can tell you the start on Steemit can be rough. Maybe try to do a project which is Steemit related, like a lasercut Steemit Logo or things alike - you get the idea ;) good luck!
