Steemit Tutorial: Curation and the basics you should know.
Steemit is a new social network that is currently attracting a large number of Vietnamese. However, it is also a platform with rather complex operating mechanisms, especially for new entrants. Users are more interested in Steemit's rewards, how to make money, SBD's interest in Steemit Power, etc. But there is another issue that is very important, but not yet addressed. understand, that is curation. For some questions about Curation in the Vietnamese community, this article I will share the basic knowledge about curation that I know.

The article will be the personal response to: What is Curation? How does the citation relate to the division of rewards? What factors affect curation? How to maximize profit from curation?

What is Curation?
Steemit is great in that you can make money from posting articles, commenting, and even from upvote to other people. When you upvote to another person, you will receive a reward called Curation. So what is curation?

Curation is extracted from the total reward of the article to divide the curator (all those who have upvote for that article). The maximum reward for Curation is 25% of the total prize money.

Steemit divides the rewards for the curator because Steemit says that although the author is the author of the content, the curator is the one who values the value of the article by his upvote, because That, they deserve a small portion of the prize fund of the article.

This means that Steemit users will have the opportunity to receive two types of rewards. When you write articles, post, you will receive rewards from other people's votes for your posts. When you upvote to another person, you receive a curation from the reward of the article you voted for.

Curation relates to the distribution of rewards.
The reward mechanism of Steemit is divided into two parts for Author and Curation. Therefore, if the curation is high then the reward for the author will be reduced. The rate of rewards between the author and the curator is not fixed, depending on many factors that he will refer to in the next section. However, the reward for Curation in the prize fund of the article is not more than 25%.

Rewards received by the author will be divided into SBD and Steem power (SP). The amount of SBD received by the author will always be calculated using the formula:

The SBD is paid for the post = [(Total Reward of the post) - (Curation)] / 2.

Except for some cases where the STEEM price is too low to produce the SBD, the Steemit will pay the outstanding SBD in the form of STEEM.

Unlike the author's reward, Curation is paid only to Curator in the form of SP.

Factors affecting Curation.
Curation is the reward fund extracted from the article to divide all those who have upvote for that article (curator). However, not all curators receive the same curation. There will be few people, there will be many.

The study of the mechanism of action as well as the calculation of the division of curation is extremely complex and based on many different factors. If you upvote others and want to get maximum curation for your upvote then pay attention to the following factors.

  1. How many people have voted in front of you?
The curation bonus for your upvote will be greatly impacted by this factor. You can see the chart below to see how the curation is influenced by the number of people who vote before

Source

It can be seen that the first 5 people voted for the article will receive the most% curation division. The more people vote before you, the lower the curation rate you are.

You can say that is so simple, just vote immediately after others post will earn Curation. But that's not the case, because as I said, Curation is influenced by a lot of factors and the calculation of Curation is based on balancing all of those factors. This factor is very limited by the second factor - which I will mention soon.

Time interval from the time the author posts.
See the chart below to get a better idea of how this works.

The rate of curation you receive depends on the time you vote for that article. You can see, in the first 30p post, part of the curation will go to the reward fund for the author. In the first 30p, you vote as soon as% of curation that the author gets will increase, which means that your curation will decrease
30 mins 100% Curation of upvote at this time will be for people vote
So. Combining both elements 1 and 2. You can see that it has gradually become more complex. You must be one of the first vote but not vote before 30 minutes if you want to maximize curation. It is extremely difficult to reach these two at the same time :))

3.Voting power
Assume that when all of the voters are the same in the rest, Voting Power will determine who will achieve the higher percentage of curation.

This means that people who vote at 80-100% of voting power will receive more curation than those who vote in 40-60% of voting power.
Therefore, it is best to keep your voting power at always higher than 80%. Do not abuse the vote.

Add some information to those you may not know, which is a regular vote of your vote (vote at 100% voting weight) will cost approximately 2% voting power. And every 24 hours, voting power will automatically return 20%. You can rely on that to consider how many votes should vote a day to keep voting power over 80%.

The most appropriate number is 10 votes a day. And the next day voting power will return 100% right for you.

4.Voting weight.

For those under 500 SP, the vote is always 100% default. When there are more than 500SP, you will have this slide to adjust Voting Weight as you like. Currently, if you use the bus, you under 500SP can adjust the voting weight.

This is like voting power, which is that when all the other factors are the same, people who use higher voting weight will get a higher percentage of curation.

5.Steem Power.
Just as the two factors mentioned above are that when all the other factors are the same, the more people who have more SPs will get higher curation.

How to maximize profitability based on the Curation calculation mechanism?
Based on the factors affecting the curation above, you can calculate so that when you are the author, you have to limit the curation to the lowest level, to maximize the reward yourself. And when you are curator - upvote, you have to do to get maximum curation from the upvote article.

The perfect combination of all five factors is utterly impossible, and beyond your ability to calculate. However, you can relatively apply the mechanisms mentioned above.

When you are a curator, vote in the 30th minute from the time the author posts. Limit upvote when voting power is lower than 80%. You can check your voting power at steemd.com/@username (replace username with your account name)

When you are the author, self-vote right after the post. If your vote is too low, then make a big vote within the first 30p after posting. As soon as possible, the more curation the author holds. How to get a large value instantly? You may consider using a booster. Bots to vote right away like minnowbooster. You can refer to the article explaining the use of booster here. However, you also need to consider the booster vote rate, because if the bot rate is low then the reward you save from the curation is not enough to compensate for the use of booster.

Most of you have low SP that takes 25% of the reward from your post for Curation. Because your vote is too low and most of the reward value of the article is due to the vote of other people, so the maximum pay 25% for curation is unavoidable.
