First Steemit Art Post!!

in #introduce8 years ago (edited)

Hi, I am Cheerted and I will bring Art to you!!

Dear Steemers, this is cheerted - a Dutch Cambodian artist from the Netherlands who would love to introduce more Art to the Steem community.

Me at work!

My friend, @chhaylin, introduced me to Steemit some time ago and after looking around on the platform and being impressed by the possitive vibe of the community I have finally decided to write my first post.

About me: my parents and I fled Cambodia to the Netherlands in 1988. I was born in Khao I Dang, a Cambodian refugee camp on the Thai-Cambodian border. As the Cambodian and Dutch cultures seem to be exact opposites of each other, I spent my childhood trying to navigate those two worlds. Today I can say I am privileged to understand both cultures thoroughly and to be able to look at them from an outsider’s perspective.

Titel: Home, 2007, 80 x 60 cm

I love experimenting with materials. This work is created with Indian ink on latex. It is done by rubbing the ink over the latex with a wet cloth. The size of this canvas is 80 x 60 cm. People have different interpretations of this piece. In this Art work, I literally wanted combine two worlds. I sketched it, then abstracted the sketch into lines, and played with the lines untill this image emerged.

This is another work of mine that was the first sketch of my idea to present two worlds.

I intuïtively create work with a magical/surrealistic look. Big infulence on my work come frome the surrealism, dadaism, symbolism art movement.

I hope you will like my contributions and see you around.

Please, feel free to look around on my website as well: http://www.ckeo.nl

Cheers!!
