SteemIt Test Drive

in #intro7 years ago

I have been invested with cryptocurrencies for about 6 months now. However I was so hesitant at first that I didn't put up enough to really make anything substantial. While I have been following the tech for a few years now due to my AMD fanboyism, passion for PC gaming and the effect crypto mining has on GPU prices (insert angry emoji), I still largely stayed on the sideline assuming it wouldn't last.

Well with the craziness that has been 2017, no more being on the sideline. I may have aged 10 years researching charts listening to podcasts doing anything to increase my technical analytical skills. I have researched the technology and understand just how much of a game changer this is. It helps that I have a software development background as I'm sure many of the community does to fully get a leg up before this boom becomes mainstream. Just as the dotcom era produced life changing wealth for so many I see blockchain technology doing the same. But we have to hurry and plant our position before the wealth whales come in and inflate prices.

As far as steemit goes, I'm on of the belief that this platform is just a test drive of the concept of getting paid for generating interaction on your social media page. This is in contrast to the current model of social media where access is free however you receive no monetary incentive from the social network themselves. The only incentive is staying connected to your friends while the platform itself racks in all the cash. In this sense you can think of steemit like an early Myspace or Friendster which means steemit is probably not going to be the blockchain social media platform that truly reaches mass adoption. However I am just fine with that. I love the fact that this is niche platform for now mostly full of like minded individual interested in tech and using that to truly change the world in a way that can benefit the masses. However if it does take off and continues to innovate to reach a global audience well I'm glad I'm starting my network building now.

All in all I'm happy to see what becomes of this and the technology behind it. I look forward to networking with you all and building a community worth having. As far what content will I be posting about well let's just say my interest span a wide range of topics. I can go on a tangent about any of the following: of course technology, blockchain, and financial related news, bodybuilding (yes I squat), music, my life as a software developer, PC gaming, how beautiful 4K UHD blurays are, anime, GAME OF THRONES, fashion (I'm sorry for my big men but baggy clothes are never coming back in style so hit the gym lol), Michigan Football, Rick & Morty, how Zack Snyder doesn't know the hero in superhero and anything else that comes to mind.

I have heard most people on this site are only interested in talking about crypto and after a glance of the trending topics that appears to be the case but who cares in the end? If I earn a penny off any of these posts that more than tumblr, blogger, or twitter have ever given me. This also gives me a conversation starter to introduce more people into crypto. When they ask for my twitter and I give them my steemit account thats of course going to follow with the question...what's steemit? "Have you heard of Bitcoin?...well what if FB paid you in it for generating eyeballs on your page and posts?" I don't know anyone who wouldn't at least be curious. And if I'm inviting my friends I promise you if all I'm talking about is tech related topics they will be bored of me instantly lol.

This was supposed to be only be a paragraph and here I've written a thesis smh. Anyways I wish anyone who reads this a great day and here's to a profitable 2018!
