Question one: Three currencies on the network (HIVE, staked HIVE and HBD), only two can swap. Is there really no way to convert HBD to HIVE?
Question two: Am I really sure there is no newcommer guide around there? Can someone point me ton one?

There are many ways. Within ecency app or try exchange like tribal, leowallet, or hive-engine.

You want to change HBD to HIVE? you need to buy and sell through the market (because they have different market values). Just go to https://wallet.hive.blog/market and start trading :)
