Question one: Three currencies on the network (HIVE, staked HIVE and HBD), only two can swap. Is there really no way to convert HBD to HIVE?

There are many ways. Within ecency app or try exchange like tribal, leowallet, or hive-engine.

Question two: Am I really sure there is no newcommer guide around there? Can someone point me ton one?

Why not join official hive discord and ask your questions there. Still the basic guide is peakd.com faq page.
