Nigerians Reflect on Dr Yima Sen and Radical Politics

It will be another Nigeria in conversation Wednesday, November 11th, 2020 when radical nationalists, patriots, family, friends, colleagues and sundry activists gather to pay homage to the late Dr. Yima Sen. Dr Sen who was an academic at Baze University, Abuja passed on October 6th, 2020 and is scheduled to be buried in Benue State November 14th, 2020.

The hybrid nature of his sites of radical politics makes him to have been an interesting face of radical politics since the early eighties, more so that he stretched to a solid pan-Africanism and internationalism.

Professor Jibrin Ibrahim will be on hand to synthesise Dr. Yima Sen’s intervention in radical politics in a keynote address. Three discussants will add, subtract or even amend Prof Ibrahim’s submission while about ten voices, representing various constituencies, including the family, would be heard in unpacking Dr. Sen further.

The event involving different layers of actors to put it together is taking place at the National Women Centre in Abuja, obviously a symbolic gesture to the gender dimension of Yima Sen’s activism.

Dr. Yima Sen was variously a communication specialist, cultural critics, international civil servant, academic and politician of the radical hue, including offering himself as a presidential aspirant on the platform of the defunct Social Democratic Party, making him one of the few radical activists to go that far in traditional politics.
