How to do self-education, if you used to justify yourself with an eternal lack of time

in #interesting6 years ago (edited)

Rule number 1: listen to audiobooks whenever possible
According to statistics, a person in his entire life spends about 4 years in transport. 4 years old, Carl! And what do we usually do when traveling? We listen to music, we play in some "Merry Shepherd" on the phone or pointlessly "stumble" on the passengers. And now imagine how many gigabytes of information could be downloaded into our brain during these 4 years of idleness? That's right, hundreds! Now, with the realization of these figures, try to make yourself a rule:

  • Go to the subway, bus, taxi - this is an excellent occasion to listen to an audiobook.
  • In the evenings you walk with a dog - again books.
  • Doing exercise, lying on the procedure in the beauty salon, sunbathing on the beach - all the same scheme.

Rule No. 2: See TED lectures during routine duties

What do you do when you brush your teeth? When do you clean the room? And when are you preparing dinner? Surely the maximum - this includes the episode in the background or a favorite playlist.

From today, try to put the experiment: on the background of everyday household activities put one of the lectures TED - a short speech for 15-20 minutes from interesting lecturers on scientific and cultural topics. You can not even imagine how much you will feel your brain full after a normal brushing of your teeth.

Rule # 3: leave interesting articles for lunch
First tip - subscribe to interesting magazines in social networks.

The second tip is to keep interesting articles for yourself "for lunch". During a snack, it's the most satiety and spiritual food, too.

Rule No. 4: See the documentaries
Few people think, but the documentary genre is no less interesting than the artistic one. In addition, a historical or social documentary will not only be interesting, but also much more useful than the next series of "Don Sebastian's Love Stuff".

Rule number 5: planned - could. Not planned - could not
In order not to become another victim of Her Majesty the procrastination, it is necessary to make a certain plan for self-development (now we are talking about people who have a specific goal, and not just self-education from entertainment, which is also not bad).

Write down all the points that you want to study. Describe the approximate number of hours and classes for each month, week, day. And let this list always be before your eyes, say, hang at the desktop or periodically trigger as reminders in your smartphone. So you will really control yourself. If you look at the chart and suddenly realize that you have safely forgotten about dreams and scored on plans, you will immediately try to make up for lost time - believe me, it works.

Rule # 6: lead an evening tradition to learn new things

Admit it, do you also have a daily tradition to pamper before going to bed on the Internet? See a good batch of fresh memes, look at the history of all subscriptions in all social networks, read about the new child Kim Kardashian and check out other, very necessary information.

And now think: what will happen if every day instead of this rubbish look interesting lecture or documentary (yes, again we return to the first rules)? Every day, just before going to bed, when the brain is not distracted by anything and perfectly absorbs information. Yes you will feel like a fucking genius!

Try to adhere to these rules for at least 21 days. You will be surprised at how new knowledge will fill your head. Let's argue?
