What made me switch from my corporate job to working as a freelancer?

This is the post for Minnowhelper Writing Contest!!!- The contest is presented by @minnowhelper.

Well, to be honest working as a freelancer was never in my life plan. This is something I started off as a necessity to earn some part time income while I was in college, and continued by choice. I did not realize how much I liked working as a freelancer until I had to make a choice between working online or going ahead with a full time 9 to 5 job. The amount of freedom and independence you get as a freelancer is something that makes this a very lucrative career choice.

Freelancing is definitely a great way to earn money and learn many new things, but frankly this is also not everyone's cup of tea. While people sign up on the freelancing sites with enthusiasm and excitement, it does not last long and they often quit even before giving their 100%. So, if you are determined to give it a shot or take it up as your career, these advantages of freelancing over traditional jobs will surely help you to make a choice.

Flexibility of time and place

I feel that this is the most crucial reason which makes people take freelancing. This is the biggest advantage as you are your own boss. You work when you like and from where you like. You do not have to crib Mondays or wake up early in the morning. This has definitely spoilt me, but has made me love what I do. But, yes you need to be punctual with your work so that you have a good network and satisfied clients who come back to you for work. =)

Learning about many new skills

Well it depends on you whether you love learning about new things or doing same task again and again. But, for me this is something I love the best. I like learning about new things and how people across the globe are working. I love to know about various things as I am curious by nature. So, freelancing keeps me satisfied as I have new work often and I do not have to do the same monotonous job again and again. I started off as a writer, but learnt to do ecommerce, social media and many things which would not have been possible otherwise.

Building your own brand

When you work for a company you are building them reputation and brand and not working towards yourself. This means that when you leave the job you are likely to start in a new company afresh and prove your skills. But, in freelancing world, you work constantly to improve your image and build your reputation. You build your value and that pays off in the long run.

Monetary benefits

Monetary benefits that arise from freelancing cannot be ignored at all. Whether you are planning to do it part time or indulge in it full time, it can help you get financial stability. You can also take up some tasks in addition to your daily job if you are in need. With clients all across the world, there is a sleek chance that you will not have work if you are talented.

Talents do not go unnoticed

If you have talents and can work hard, there are people looking for you. In my case, I was not even a writer in the first place, but yes I am eager to learn and give my 100%. This helped me to get clients who even taught me things that I did not know. If you are eager to learn and give your best efforts, trust me there is nothing that you cannot learn and succeed at.

Building confidence and esteem

When you contact with various clients from different places and fields, you build confidence and self esteem. talking to different people helps you improve your communication skills and learn new things. There are also various new way to earn money which you can come to know when you start working online.

So, if you are planning or still confused whether to proceed with working online, I hope you will be able to make a choice now!

@utsavarathii envy you this has been my life goal but never had enough skills to quit

Hey @gratefulayn I understand you totally but why do you need to quit.. I also began this as a part time thing. You grow with time. I had never thought that this would be something I would do full time or choose over a corporate job. But, then I gathered courage and just got into this full time. Beginning is always small dear!!
