 God’s Word Today:

Proverbs 15:23 NCV

A person finds joy in giving an apt reply—and how good is a timely word!

 Thoughts to Ponder:

I find it difficult most times not to respond to something I deem as a slight – subtle or otherwise. Being a natural competitive person, too often I try to prove others’ perception wrong either by my actions or words.

Most of the time, I fail (miserably) to give an apt response, making matters worse. The timing, the actions (facial expressions and gestures), the tone and the words are all wrong.

I end up making the situation tense than it should be, and feeling foolish for doing so.

Do you have the same experience?

How do you deal with this?

God’s Word shows us that a person would find joy (only) by having the appropriate action and words.

Yes, it’s easier said than done. But by reading this, I get to understand that through the Holy Spirit’s guidance we’ll properly discern a situation.

Oh  yeah, and it’s not to our own advantage, but to God’s advantage.

By knowing this, we can look beyond pride (and selfish concerns) and truly understand others. We can then aptly respond in actions or words that would reflect His transforming power.

People around us will then recognize change, and will respond with a positive (and loving) attitude in due time.

Have you been struggling (and stumbling) in this area of your social, professional and family life?

There is hope for us.

Let us pray for our Father to help us today.

Dear Father,

This is such a timely reminder that we should keep in our hearts and minds daily.

Guide us through the Holy Spirit, that we may only have actions and words reflective of Your transforming power.

All of these for Your glory alone.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
