No one cares about your content?

in #inspiration7 years ago

Attention and upvotes are important on Dtube and Steemit, we all know that. But are they the most important, and if we don't get them, should we quit?

If it's not clear- in my opinion the answer is no.

I’ve been creating content for dtube and steemit for more then 2 weeks now, and... no one really seems to care.

Now, don’t get me wrong, this is not me whining and complaining about it- no one owes me anything and I know that.

But that doesn't mean that I’m not frustrated by the fact that I’m working hard, learning and trying to make good content, and it feels like no one really appreciates it. Especially when I see other people get amazing results from 1-2 short videos.

And I’m not even talking about the Dtube upvotes, which are a myth to me, or about the amount of SBD I earn from each post. I’m talking about just having people interested, and engaged with my content.

So is this me giving up because I don't get enough attention?

Not at all! This is about me keeping on creating and trying to get better and find the way to create content that I still like but other people are actually interested in.

I’ve seen a lot of Dtubers with pretty successful channels talk about how you should keep putting out content, giving advice on how to become a part of the community to get the results you want- and I’ve been trying all of that. Unsuccessfully. Which makes their advice video true but… annoying?

So this is me, another beginning Dtuber/Steemian reminding myself and any of you who might be feeling similarly frustrated- results don’t happen overnight, and we shouldn’t expect them to.

If it’s not working, it’s no one’s fault, we just have to fine-tune what we’re doing until we get it right.

And the one and only reason you should keep going even if no one else cares about you? Because you like doing it! That’s the only reason I’m still here and not discouraged;)

Until next time- be positive!

Congratulation on Winning our #contest!

Have you been posting in the promo section? Dtube does manual curation so there is content that will be missed even if it's good. Honestly what u mention is what I do. Also being active on the discord might help. I know it can be discouraging because we're all working hard and at the mercy of just a few big wallets. But I think things will change, it needs to.

The discord chat is hard to follow, but I'm making an effort to be more active there (thanks to your advice actually- so thanks!), and it's cool to get to know the people in the platform and see how welcoming they are, even if it doesn't bring immediate results.
I think that slowly all of us newer steemeans will become more powerful and be able to influence the trends of the platform, and for now it's really just about keeping on trying to figure it out I guess.

Thanks, I've joined:)

Great, and good job on the dtube upvote! 😄 I will nominate you in #onelovedtube to be added to the curation trail. That can help out a little bit.

Yeah, it's funny me making a video about not getting any attention got Dtube's attention!
Thank you for all the help, your seriously so kind! ♥

Until you find your tribe, it's hard to get votes as a noob. It's best to spend more time commenting than posting when you first start out, so people know you're there.

Just get creative.

So this tribe business... I was looking at TeamAustralia. I’m just wondering where does one sign up. :)

Head on over to the PAL discord server, and let them know you're looking for Team Australia - https://discordapp.com/channels/319885228464406528/319885497428344832

Everyone is really friendly.

Alternatively, have a look at the @teamaustralia posts as joining info is listed in there.

Thanks for the pointer. I’m on The PAL server, but not sure what I’m supposed to be doing. However, don’t mind me, I’ll find me some aussies eventually. Maybe I’ll try find time to pop over to one of these Melbourne random social get together. Cheers!

Geez, I gave you the wrong link. Just head into the teamaustralia chat room and you'll be guided from there :-D

And there is an official Melbourne Meetup this weekend :-D - https://steemit.com/teamaustralia/@datascience/melbourne-meetup-this-sunday-25-march

Thanks again! I will do some homework on all these things once I have a free moment. I sneak onto Steemit just to peek and comment for now. And drats, cannot make this week — family time, but I’ll get along to one even eventually.

Thanks! That's true, haven't figured out how to find my tribe just yet, but I've been commenting and engaging with people I find interesting:)
Your drawing is charming 🤩

I feel the same, luckily I also enjoy the making

good luck :)

Thanks! good luck to you too;)

Thanks for the motivation! בהצלחה לנו👍🏼😊

לגמרי בהצלחה לנו! :)

same situation here but thanks hey for such a motivational video

I hear you! At least we're not alone in it;)
Did you try any of the advice @alphasteem gave me in the comment above yours? being active on the discord and promoting your posts there might help. I don't know if you're on dtube, but there has to be a Steemit discord too, right?

i have hey mutiple times l will keep on trying

yes l'm on discord https://discord.gg/hUDvzK here's my link let me also join @alphasteem discord channel also thanks @rutheh

Also new, and tbh, it feels like a world of bots. I’ll check out your content this weekend. I’m still feeling my way around. :)

Thanks and good luck!
I haven't really looked into bots, but the way I see it, it's just a way to reach more people (kind of like payed advertising), right?

Thanks. I feel like a little old lady trying to understand technology. This steemit and now discord business is confusing, and creepily silent when you start. I’ll figure it out. Look forward to reading more of your thoughts!

Yup, I'm totally with you there! And so far I haven't been able to find a video/post explaining it, but I'll make sure to send it your way if I do find something;)

Thanks, appreciate any useful vids. :)

What an awesome sister...
Keep up the great job!

it's the whales you should look for, not the upvotes.
to my opinion in steemit, "content is king" only if it's been voted by kings (whales).
this mechanism is not necessarily promoting good content
therefore, don't expect good content will bring you steem

So what will bring the whales and the steem over in your opinion? If it's some sort of a political game with some whales, the platform will just not hold in the long run- it won't be delivering on the decentralization it's promising.
And I don't live anywhere near the ocean, so I had a hard time searching for the whales in my back yard;)

it all depends on what kind of whales populate steemit.
if the whales invest in steem for the long run, they should promote good content.
if they are investing for the short run, they will upvote cheap content produce by themselves
you can use this article to hunt some big fat whales https://steemit.com/hebrew/@yoramba/6nskgh

Thanks! I'll definitely check it out! But to be honest, I care more about having people who are interested in the same content I am than finding a whale;)

Haha! Upvote? Upvote? LOL :) Nice vlog.

Thanks! :)

I think most of us creators here on Steemit/Dtube have had the same thoughts. My content is good. Why is that not showing? Just keep at it. We're in it for the long run and that's where it will pay off.

I agree with you. You have to have a reason for doing all this or else you will get discouraged and you will give up. I love the accountability that it gives me. With that in mind my reward is the results I get outside of dtube. You really do have great content @rutheh!

Thank you!
For me, it's both the weight loss accountability, and just getting out of my shell by expressing myself on camera- I think it should be some sort of shyness therapy, with the way it gets people out of their comfort zone.
