Sounds like something directly from Genesis chapter 3. In Korean there is a proverb 병주고약주고. Directly translate to: Give Illness and Give Medicine
It means the giver of the problem gives the remedy.
In humanities the "You" that pulls the writer is called the muses. There is a compulsion to keep going. This comes from inside the writer's heart. Socrates' dialog with Phaedrus:
