Today I want to share 3 cases of innovation in hardware for music. This 3 examples talks by themselves about what innovation is. I like very much the simplicity of the definition of Innovation as a new something (product, service, methodology, etc) or a new way to do something, so if you’re looking for a way to differentiate from other brands in music or any other industry, this could be a good inspiration.
SEABOARD
This instrument transforms the way to play keyboards by incorporating execution forms of strings instruments such as slidings or vibrato, which mixed with synth sounds, opens a whole new world of possibilities if you’re looking for new sensations at creating and interpreting music.
AIR DRUM
Drums are a very complex instruments, if you think about weight, space, and or noise. This last problem was solved with electronic drums, but it wasn’t still portable. This is solved with this tech that allows you to play drums like you were playing in the air. That obviously changes the way a drummer can practice even in small places, making it a portable experience. (I’m not sure about the sound quality for recording or playing live…. any drummer to do comments about this?)

SOUNDBRENNER
Every time I talk about metronome I think of an intermittent sound played over the music, interfering with the rehearse or recording experience. In this case this device solves this by transforming the metronome’s sound into a pulse that the musician can feel as a vibration emitted by a bracelet or belt, that can be shared with other musicians.
I hope this info helps you to find inspiration on your way to innovation. If you know other cases about hardware innovation in music, please leave it in the comments, so we can share opinions.
