Spirituality and emotional intelligence go together. One enables perception of the other. Without emotional intelligence you cannot perceive cruelty and injustice. And without the ability to see and feel cruelty and injustice, and take a stand, no faith is possible. The trouble with emotional intelligence is that, just like faith, it could be destroyed or compromised by an oppressive regime.
