Downvotes From Whales

in #informationwar5 years ago

I am well aware that some actions on the Hive blockchain (devs) are similar to other areas of the interwebs, specifically Steem.

I'm certainly new to Steem and Hive and just because I write a bid bot and post about it, my posts get downvoted by whales.
If you wanted me off this chain you could simply just tell me.
Ruining my rewards simply because you do not agree with my choice, utilizing your "STAKE" just to ruin it for me.

In my honest opinion and experience on this chain so far, some are leaving due to the hypocrisy. So because you have "STAKE" and voting power you can downvote posts to ruin rewards with no comment.

That to me is the same antics as Justin Sun and company, the ones you continue to complain about on this new chain as if you created something totally different (ehhm). Arent you just calling the kettle black.

Where is the whitepaper?

This Kind of makes me wonder why HIVE hasn't made a whitepaper.
Seems like that is a good way to leave intent at the door and to allow the people with "STAKE" to proceed in doing what they want.

Sort:

Please re-read the responses you got on your bid bot post.

  1. You have no HP to offer paid votes in the first place. It makes you look like a scammer straight away.
  2. Nobody wants a return to shitposts promoted by bid bots dominating trending
  3. Despite this, you CAN do what you want with your stake. Just like the stakeholders opposing you with flags.
  4. There is no HIVE whitepaper at this stage, the closest we have is the STEEM whitepaper (both describe a graphene proof-of-brain DPOS chain)
  5. "That to me is the same antics as Justin Sun and company" ... You need to do more research, your ignorance of the situation makes me cringe.

TLDR: Do what you want. Don't expect others to want the same things.

Yeah it's petty, I haven't downvoted it months and when I did it was to assist @steemcleaners in trying to remove the scam posting and upvote bot nets full of sock accounts and plagiarism. I don't know what else to say i'm pretty disappointed and have lost a lot of passion for STEEM / HIVE over this.

In a period of time when we need freedom of speech, immutable evidence retention and freedom of information more than ever, bitchaz be all protective n squabbling over their craptocurrency and STAKE / CLOUT.

I feel very disappointed, was furious before but our current lives have far more pressing demands.

Stay sane everyone before some cunt goes postal

Yeah I agree man and am upset this happened to you. Was so happy when you started participating on here and now only to receive this sort of treatment from being naturally curious has left a sour taste in my mouth.

It is of great concern to me that there is no whitepaper available and being quite the n00b myself in all things blockchain/crypto, I'm not sure if a new cryptocurrency was ever made without a whitepaper accompanying it.

That's a good point, but keep in mind Steem had a whitepaper and it didn't mean much in the end.

The thing we have at this point on Hive is enthusiasm and a good vibe - that is something that can't be bought (or sold) or put in a whitepaper - it comes from what we say and what we post.

HIVE isn't a "new" crypto, its the continuation of the real Steem chain.
The Steem whitepaper applies just as well to HIVE as it did to Steem (better, even, since we don't have a controlling stakeholder that's violated all the original principles and promises).

The Steem whitepaper applies just as well to HIVE as it did to Steem

I've noticed several differences between the structure and operation between STEEM and HIVE already so I don't think this is true. If it was true, then why wasn't the steem whitepaper duplicated and released as the HIVE whitepaper just with rebranding/ HIVE logos?

HIVE has a different fiduciary responsibility in the way it is issued if not just for the exclusion list applying, the ninja mine stake equivalent now being escrowed in the DAO and how there is meant to be a voluntary-ism based consensus for any DAO funding.

I get it's a work in progress though.. and considering these shit fuck times I'm not going to unduly rattle on about it. Still think the whales from STEEM who are now on HIVE shouldn't have responded in the way they did to @unknownonline though and would ask that this be remedied.

Apparently those funds are also being held in escrow meaning that for each and every blacklisted user there is their HIVE allotment set aside in escrow. This is to ensure that there exists an opportunity for any blacklisted user to appeal their exclusion from the HIVE airdrop.

Sounds good in theory but my following query is what is happening to all the APR interest that these escrowed amounts are assumedly earning? Steem held on the steemit.com wallet earns a current APR interest rate of 1.88%

I'll take that bet. I've been in this system for years, I understand how downvotes work.

Yes. It is kind of sad.

Conflating:

You might be conflating two things which should remain somewhat separate, that is downvoting (flags) and aspects of the free market which may include exchanges between private property domains.

Dislikes vs Downvotes

So, like I said, two things. First, I would prefer dislikes instead of downvotes. Hypothetically speaking, downvoting private property would be theft, a crime. It would be robbery. It would be stealing.

Lacking Ownership

Now, I don't know if downvoting is theft because one might argue that nobody owns anything on the Internet or at least on Steem or Hive or other blockchains that utilizes cryptocurrencies which are accessed and not actually owned or stored. Well, again, it depends on who owns the rewards pool. Some might say the pool is shared which reminds me of communism. So, long story short, it depends on different things.

Rich Whales

Secondly, and more importantly, I believe in the free market which means I believe in competition. So, in life, we run into filthy rich whales with a bunch of money. I don't want to try too hard to stop them from making money and from doing some things to the extent it does not really aggressively or excessively violate or interfere with the private property rights of other people. I will not try too hard to talk smack on rich people because I want to be rich too. I want to have more money, more power, more influence, more resources, more things, etc. But I am not saying that there should be downvotes at all. I don't like downvotes. But I don't hate money. I love money.

Downvoting is like a Gun

And the voting system is a mechanism, a tool like a gun. I don't hate guns. So, a downvote might be like shooting the bad guy with a gun. But you might shoot a good guy with the gun as well. And good and bad people can have guns like good and bad people can upvote and downvote or simply vote up and down.

free market isn't free, here and practically everywhere in the world. And you'll never get rich just for your a priori love for money drawing you to hive.blog. Believing that the free market means competition means what exactly? Is this a competition? maybe you should spend some time sending search queries through a blockchain explorer. ya know, to at least get that edge to beat the competition.

I will not try too hard to talk smack on rich people because I want to be rich too.

well you better start talking smack on poor people then, that's how you get rich.

I like to try my best to sell a banana to you. So, I have a banana. So, maybe we will do a trade. Maybe you will give me something for my banana. If I am happy with what you have to offer, then I might give you the banana. If you are not happy with the banana, then you can go. If I am not happy with what you have to offer, be it money, products, services, time, information, etc, then I can refuse to hand over my banana to you. The art of the deal. I like competition. I like the meaning to life. I like the freedom to try to compete, to try to get more and more. I like that. Call me a monster for being greedy if you want to. Alright, I am a greedy bastard. I admit, I am just very greedy. I want. I try to get more and more and more. You can call that anything you want. You can say that is right or wrong. I choose to do these things no matter what they are, even if they are bad things, even if they are wrong. I am choosing to try to work hard to get more. I want to let others have that kind of freedom too to try to trade. I like the art of trade. A relationship between a man and a woman is a trade, a free market exchange. Everything is. We are in a trade in this conversation. I give you words and you give me words back. And I click on the upvote button on your comment right here right now.

Did you know people can use their stake to downvote as they wish on Steem, and have been doing that for years? There are no rules. People can make up their own rules and downvote however they want in DPOS. Fun ain't it?...
