Reason for Women's Discrimination

Let me tell you a story first.

Once there was a a parrot in a cage and it was living in the same cage since it was born. One day another parrot came there and opened the cage door and asked the parrot to come out. But the parrot in the cage refused it because it was safe in the cage all it's life time and is scared about what consequence it if it goes out of the cage.

Let's link the above story to real life incidents. The parrot in the cage is the girls/women in the society who are afraid to go out whenever they want. Do you know what's the reason behind this? It's because of parenting and the cage is house.

In earlier days, men and women are treated as equal and they both used to work together. In olden days, both used to be farmers. But because of periods, the women used to take break from work for 3-5 days whereas, the men used to work everyday. And during pregnancy, again the women used to take break from their work for about 6-9 months. That's how they became 'housewife' as they used to take breaks often and they also need to be someone who takes care of children. Since, the women take breaks due to above mentioned reasons, they got the work to take care of household chores, children, etc.

As many of the story book writers are male in earlier days, they used to treat male as superior when compared to females and used to write the story in same way. People used to read the same stories and they fixed in their mind that men are capable to do more work and have much more strength than women. Even in Indian history of Gods, as far as I know, none of the God's have girl child.

Even when elderly people talk, they say that girls shouldn't laugh loudly in my country, India. They also say that "boys shouldn't cry like girls". They need to understand that smiling, laughing, crying are the basic emotions that every human possess and what's wrong in it? There was a saying in telugu language which means, "if you lie, then you'll have a girl child in future.". Do they mean to say that girls can't make better child?

If a guy has many girlfriends then he is called "Lord Krishna" by the society. But a girl is called "slut", even if they talk to other guys. Yeah, you heard it, right? I've seen people calling a girl slut just because she was chatting with guys and because she was the only girl.

When a girl wants to go out, she'll be bombarded with various questions whereas, a guy has all the freedom to go whenever and wherever he wants to.

When a girl wants to go out at night, then her father restricts her to go because he know boy's psychology and he doubts other people regarding their moral values and ethics. It's the mistake of society. Most of the mother's don't tell to their son that he needs to behave well and teach him ethical values.

So, I hope from at least now the society changes and treat every gender as equal. Thank you.

Don't give up, keep writing! :)

Thank you. :)

Yep this world has recently changed the past 20 years and longer but we're still going through a bit of this but I see that things will be complete soon around the world as they should be

I would say that women / girls lack courage and self-confidence. Also firmness. There is still something like giving responsibility and passing the baton to men. And firmness interpreted as insolence. But I think that soon it will be totally different. At least in Poland. Worldpeace!

I feel that girls/women lack the courage because the society is looking them as inferior when compared to men.
