The Power of Personal Data
I’m sure most of you will have heard about about the controversy with how our personal data is stolen on a daily basis and how companies make colossal profits from selling it on to other companies. It’s astounding to think that today the data brokerage industry is worth over a staggering 250 billion USD/year and most of it comes from the tender of our stolen personal data. Undoubtedly, we should have the right to be compensated for the sharing of our personal data. The General Data Protection Regulation will be put into place on 25th May 2018. The GDPR aims primarily to give control back to citizens and residents over their personal data. This will make it much more difficult for these companies to carry on commandeering our data and inordinately profiting. After all why should they prosper with something which isn’t rightfully theirs.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679 is a regulation in EU lawon data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union. It addresses the export of personal data outside the EU. The GDPR aims primarily to give control back to citizens and residents over their personal data and to simplify the regulatory environment for international business by unifying the regulation within the EU.[1] When the GDPR takes effect, it will replace the 1995 Data Protection Directive (Directive 95/46/EC).
Marketing research and consumer product research all hinges on personal data, wether it be major or minor companies, they all need our personal data and it’s more precious to them than you may think. When you look online and search to buy something, it could be a new car, a new computer or maybe even a data plan for your phone, your information is logged, saved and sold for profit. This information is vital to marketing companies who need to know what different ranges of people are interested in and what they would be more enticed to buy. If you have Facebook or other forms of social media then you’ve probably noticed when you click on or take a particular interest in something, the same product or material keeps popping up over and over again.
Methods such as public surveys, product surveys and customer feedback are implemented but these methods aren’t exactly the most successful in obtaining information as there are two main problems with the data. Firstly the data could be inaccurate as some people don’t take the surveys serious and provide the correct information or lie about certain things. Secondly the data could be fake, reason being that a lot of people don’t like giving their true identities away. Even a lot of the stolen information can be inaccurate... with the combination of the new GDPR and an existing product and platform these details can be more accurate and much more applicable.
We have the right to take control of our own personal data, reap the benefits and claim the compensation we deserve.
OPIRIA
THE EXISTING PRODUCT/PLATFORM
The OPIRIA team have already created an existing platform which is currently in use by major companies such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes Benz, VW and GM. The current platform lets consumers share their personal data through methods such as taking part in surveys for payment.. this data is then uploaded to the opiria database and shared with business and companies who use the opiria platform.
Not only is this cost effective it also saves a lot of time that is normally wasted, consumers data is uploaded and sent to companies in real time.. the companies pay for the information like they normally would but instead of other businesses making the profit, the consumer is compensated instead and the information gathered is much more valuable to the company or business requesting it. Its all about making YOU count...!
Existing features of the OPIRIA platform include a system where the consumer can be payed for signing up to the platform and downloading the APP, taking part in general surveys, consumer product surveys and sharing of personal data. It also includes other features such as the emotion tracker module, when consumers are taking part in surveys and looking at certain advertisements, their emotions are tracked and monitored to see what their reaction is to particulars within the survey/advertisement. There’s many other modules that make up OPIRIA 2.0 making it a much more complex platform thus making it much more efficient, cost and time effective.
PDATA TOKEN
Introducing the blockchain and smart contracts to an already successful and existing platform.

OPIRIA are building the first Ethereum blockchain based marketplace for the secure and transparent buying and selling of personal data. Opiria-Platform enables consumers to create a passive income stream by monetizing their personal data. Companies can buy personal data directly from consumers. PDATA token is the currency that expresses the value of personal data.
The PDATA token will be used to compensate consumers for sharing their information, in the process the middle man is cut out of the equation. Companies will pay consumers directly using the PDATA token through the already existing OPIRIA platform. Combining blockchain technology with the platform will create a smart contract for payment and more importantly the secure storage of consumers personal data.
Consumers will have direct control over their personal data and to whom they share it with. They will be paid accordingly on the value you of the information shared. PDATA tokens will be rewarded to consumers who either share specific data or take part in surveys. The more PDATA tokens a consumer holds increases likelihood for receiving a “personal data request” from companies.
The consumers aren’t the only ones who benefit, the existing OPIRIA platform already shows that companies receive more accurate information and save valuable time in doing so. Companies will have the ability to buy PDATA tokens and use them to pay consumers directly for information, they will also be able to use the PDATA tokens to purchase and create surveys to collect specific information.
Overall companies will have the benefits of motivated consumers willing to provide accurate high quality personal data with quick and easy access, creating more innovative and better decisions when designing new products and services. Together consumers and companies will be cutting the ‘middle man’ out who normally profits on a large scale by stealing the information.
Vision:
Establish PDATA token as the currency that expresses the value of personal data. Enable consumers to monetize their personal data.
Mission:
Develop a global decentralized marketplace for the secure and transparent trading of personal data based on the blockchain.
WHITEPAPER EVALUATION
In my opinion the whitepaper is one the of the best I’ve seen, giving an overall executive summary of the platform and how it will work with the blockchain technology. A lot of attention has been payed to the detail on the project and the ecosystem behind it all. The whitepaper profusely elaborates on the benefits to both the consumers and companies showing how it’s a win win situation. The core team looks very strong with some amazing people on board who have wealth, knowledge and the relevant experience.

I would strongly recommend to get involved in this project, with the existing OPIRIA platform
combined with blockchain technology, PDATA token and the the new OPIRIA ecosystem have a huge advantage. It has the pontential to be a hugely profitable project and in my opinion a great investment.
