Hit our first Deer of the year with a recurve bow, cooking it up.

in #hunting6 years ago (edited)

I start off helping my friend find the Deer he hit overnight in his blind. We locate it, about 20 feet from where it was hit. Looked like a lung shot going right through the animal, so it died very quickly.

We string it up and harvest just about everything. We skipped the ribs are as they were real thin.

This video is mostly of us prepping the meat and cooking it, there is a scene in the beginning of the Deer he shot. So if that bothers you best to skip the video or watch later on in the video.

Oh my, now I’m starving! That looks delicious.

@balticbadger

Can you hunt in Germany with bows and such? I bet there are different kinds of deer than just White tail we have in Georgia.

Yeah it sure is, I prefer it from the crock pot for sure. Really softens up the meat, otherwise it can be really dense and hard to chew in some spots.

Yes you can hint it very expensive to get a Jagdschein (permit) but I plan on doing it once my kids are a little older. Hunting is one thing I miss most. Right after fishing.

I just googled it and looks like it could cost you a few thousand dollars.. Ouch!

For Germans, obtaining a Jagdschein, or hunting license, can cost a few thousand euros and take a minimum of a year as they complete intensive courses in German wildlife biology, husbandry and conservation; forestry and farming; hunting hygiene and traditions; firearm safety and techniques.Oct 27, 2017

Best of luck when you go, for that kind of money ill keep my fingers crossed you get something.

Thank you! Everyone I have talk to says it’s worth it but we will see

I have to say I always feel kind of sad when I am looking at a dead animal but this is 'how it goes'. Anyway, the food definitely looks delicious.
By the way, I like such outros much better than only those weird synthetic sounds you "used to have" some time ago, my friend.
All in all, quite nice video.

@gandalfthewhite

I feel ya, but overpopulation of Deer is a big problem around where I live. So I justify it knowing im helping stop one more deer from crashing into a car. Luckily we did not waste it and used most of the body, unlike car crash deer bodies.

Appreciate the feedback on the sounds, I was trying soundpacks you can download on the internet. I eventually used guitar licks from a youtube video and broke them up in to small transitions. I think it sounds better too. thanks

I was not trying to exhort you or complaining about anything. Death simply is not the most beautiful thing on our planet. Oh, you are right, overpopulation of animals definitely is a big problem. At least these deers taste delicious, I guess. You do not have to feel bad about that, my friend. You are a good and respectful guy. That is right again lol.

You are welcome, again. Yes, I like it better too. It is quite soothing at the end of a video.

@solominer mouth-watering , seems super delicious ...

@temperman110

It is, Ive enjoyed every bite. I tried the heart and liver but really not my thing so @ryulincoln took those. Ive been enjoying the muscles though, good eats.

I have never tried eating deer meat

It seems like it looks good food @solominer

@santiintan

Its worth a try, I suggest you ask a hunter for some if you know any. This is my second dear I have enjoyed. Previously I got some "deer sausage" which is ground up deer meat, we made some good deer burgers.
