A nationwide outrage has been triggered after a 15 year old pregnant wild elephant in Kerala’s Silent Valley Forest was offered a pineapple that consisted of an explosive. Her mouth was heavily injured when she chomped on it, and the explosion resulted in her death while she was standing in the Valliyar river.A senior forest officer said here on Tuesday. “Her jaw was broken and she was unable to eat after she chewed the pineapple and it exploded in her mouth. It is certain that she was offered the pineapple filled with crackers to eliminate her,” The Mannarkkad forest division has registered a case and has promised strict action against the offenders.
