Though I made this video awhile ago, I have since tried something new and that was using my own garden herb blend that I use for making soaps and shampoo, to make the base liquid for the hair spray. The herbs included were nasturtiums, pansies, borage, rosemary, lavender, marshmallow leaves and flowers, sage, thyme, calendula, and dandelion roots and flowers.
Use any one or more of those herbs and making a tea out of them. Then take 1.5 cups of that, or even just filtered rain or spring water warmed up and to it add:
2 Tbls cane sugar
1 Tbls high proof alcohol like vodka or spiced rum (spiced rum adds a real nice scent), or even just colloidal silver. The purpose of using these is to prevent the hair spray from spoiling.
Then a few drops or more of your favorite essential oil or oil blend.
Stir until sugar is fully dissolved and place in a spray bottle. Though I should plastic bottles in the video, I prefer using a glass spray bottle. You can find that here:, this two pack is a better price than purchasing single and I use several of these for different things, including homemade colloidal silver spray: http://amzn.to/2rCojsM
One can also tailor it to suit their needs by increasing or decreasing the amount of sugar to match the amount of hold they want. Let's say you want more hold, at another 1/2 Tbls or so. Do the same in reverse for lighter hold.
My personal favorite is to use the spiced rum and then orange and clove oils.
The following photos are of some of my garden herbs I add to my herbal blend:

Nasturtium:

Hello, I've been using this hairspray and really like it. Adding all the herbs takes it to a higher level! Next time I make it I will add some herbs. Thank you :)
You are so very welcome and thank you too! :D
Very interesting.
I never realized that it was possible to make your own hairspray.
One thing I forgot to mention in the writing is one could increase or decrease the amount of hold by increasing or decreasing the amount of sugar. I had better to add that in!
