HOW TO CATCH FISH WITHOUT BAIT OR EQUIPMENT - SURVIVAL FOOD

in #howto6 years ago

This method may just save your life one day.

In a survival situation, food is a necessity. Supplies will likely be limited and energy must be conserved, so in this video I show you a great way to locate and capture fresh fish, using only your hands.

THE HOW TO VIDEO

STEP BY STEP PHOTOS OF THE PROCESS

Trying to catch a fish barehanded will most likely waste a lot of time and energy in a survival situation, unless you know how to do it. One simple method that I use is to first look for large rocks in shallow water.

Once you've located the rocks, feel around beneath them with your hands. As always, please use caution and be aware of any potential threats or dangerous animals in the area.

When you feel a fish beneath the rocks, use your hands to grab it and remove it from the water. By using simple skills like walking, feeling, and grabbing, you can conserve energy while having a high probability of success.

The video may be work your time to watch. At one point I catch two fish at once within twelve seconds of reaching into the water. Also, after spending quite some time editing it, I think the finalized video is one of my personal favorites. Enjoy!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

It's good to know!....:)...

Wow, most impressive @papa-pepper!

Thanks! It's not that difficult, but you've got to be comfortable doing this sort of thing.

You are quite brave, I know some people who fish for crawfish that same way, its pretty savage... Some people do "noodeling" for catfish, I could never do that... What if you encounter a less savory animal like a snake or a snapping turtle...=/

I imagine it helps to have tough skin on your fingers. Most of the bluegill related species I'd catch back in Ohio had very sharp spines. When I was a kid I caught dozens of small catfish from under rocks with a method similar to what you're showing; it only took a day or two before I had an aquarium full of them!

This time of year here in the mountains, brook trout will jump out of the water and land on the rocks when they're trying to get above the waterfalls. Catching them doesn't really require much effort, I just have to wait and then grab them when they're flopping around on the rocks. I set these ones in a pool to keep them wet while I took a picture, then I tossed them back in the water. It's a really cool thing to witness, I'll going to try to get a video of them next week.

That is an amazing photo! We had brook trout in the stream behind the house of @grandpa-pepper growing up. A lot of fun times back there.

good tactics friend, the idea is great thank you for sharing ah and the place looks divided

Thank you for checking it out!

howdy papa-pepper! wow another first. I didn't even know that you could just catch fish with your bare hands and hopefully we'll never need that knowledge but if we ever do you could have saved some lives with this video! another unique lesson, thank you sir.

This is the easy way to do it if you've got structure for them to hide under. In the open water, I have successfully locked onto one and followed it until it was tired, but that requires a lot more energy.

How about hitting the fish with a stick to stun them?

Dynamite is a good stun tool too.

Sure, if you can find one laying around in the wilderness, next to that broken branch/stick 🤣

This was a fun conversation...

yes sir...and it helps if the water is clear and you can see if there are fish there or not, I notice the water there is remarkably clear.

Yes, good visibility helps you know what you're getting yourself into!

I am scared doing that, there will be snake hiding in that rock too.

We Filipinos can eat those kind of little fish by stewing them in vinegar.

That sounds great!

woa...really fun but funny
like the idea

@papa-pepper Great way to catch fish. Never been in survival situation. If in any way i get into any situation like this, it may help. Thanks.

That was super rad, I watch a lot of survival contest type shows and that was very impressive. I caught a couple of wild chickens this morning without any tools.

proof-of-wild-man-still-impressing-us !!!

Our guys go out and catch catfish in the river close to us. Usually catch enough for a fairly good feed of fish tacos...

I’m so keen to try this along with my uncoordinated survival skills. I’d most probably touch the fish and freak out because I don’t want to squash it. Reminds me of catching flies with chop sticks

Thanks that is really cool information, and very helpful as always, great tip.

Great and important information. My brother and I used to do this for fun!
