HoweyCoins.com is a website created by The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Howeycoins.com is a fake website made for educational purposes, to teach investors about what shady initial coin offerings look like.
Howeycoins claims to be "the newest and only coin offering that captures the magic of coin trading profits AND the excitement and guaranteed returns of the travel industry." and is endorsed by celebrities, artists and boxers. "HoweyCoins can serve as a GUARANTEED hedge against inflation and market loss."
GUARANTEED? Wow.. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. This made me think of a classic Homer Simpson quote: "After years of disappointments with get rich quick schemes, I know I'm gonna get rich with this scheme, and quick!"
Then again, in the words of author and psychotherapist Richard Carlson: “'If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is' isn't always correct. In fact, the suspicion, cynicism, and doubt that are inherent in this belief can and does keep people from taking advantage of excellent opportunities.”
Sometimes a fake website might be the perfect way to raise awareness and educate people.
In my opinion, be responsible and do your own research. If a cryptocurrency has a low market cap, if it's heavily pre-mined, if it's hard to see any real world usage of the token, or they claim guaranteed profits, BE AWARE!!
