Haunted house in Tennessee offering $20,000 to anyone who can finish it

in #horror5 years ago

As strange as it sounds, no one has actually finished the test. There have been many people that have tried and a lot of them were quite arrogant about feeling as though "of course they can finish it." All of them have failed.

It is called McKamey Manor and the owner, Russ McKamey, has spent a million dollars creating the world's scariest haunted house attraction. It is now mostly referred to as a "torture house" and some people question how it is legal.

This isn't your run-of-the-mill haunted house in that you can't just simply rock up, get in line, and have a go. It is far more complicated with that.

In order to even try you have to fulfill all of these requirements just to be considered

  • you must be 21 or be 18-20 and have parent's permission
  • You must pass a physical fitness test and mental-health examination
  • you must pass a background test and multiple interviews with the haunted house's staff
  • you must have proof of medical insurance
  • you must pass a portable drug test the day of the experience
  • you have to sign a 40-page waiver
  • You must pay to try the haunted house. The cost? 1 bag of dog food

So what makes it so terrifying that no one has been able to complete it? Well that's part of the problem of solving this mystery - nobody is really sure and the "show" changes frequently and is personalized for each guest based on their worst fears.

There are some videos of the experience out there, but it is unlikely that the situations are going to end up being exactly the same. Russ McKamey requires that the entire experience is filmed for legal reasons as there have been multiple attempt to sue him after the experience proved too traumatizing.

The actors in the show are allowed to touch you but they are not trying to harm you. You, of course, are not allowed to "fight back" and doing so results in immediate dismissal and the show is over.

The entire experience is meant to last 8 hours but the longest anyone has ever made it was 6 hours. This woman is known only as Sarah P. and has held the record since 2015. The average time that anyone else lasts is around an hour.

Mr. McKamey has been very secretive about what makes the experience so impossibly terrifying but in a few interviews he has indicated that during the interview process that the guests are hypnotized and this multiplies their fears.

This isn't a haunted house, so to speak, since a lot of the stuff takes place in broad daylight outdoors. Some of it is extremely brutal and I can understand why people give up. They don't try to hurt you, but there is a great deal of really rough treatment that includes cutting your hair off and feeding it to you.

The police have been called multiple times during the performances by various members of the community who were unaware this was all part of the act. Russ now calls the police himself before each performance to save them the trouble.

Despite the gruesome nature of this experience, Russ is actually a bit of a puritan himself to the point where swearing is prohibited during the experience. Ever time a person lets a cuss word fly, a certain amount of money is deducted from the grand prize. Of course all of that is irrelevant when no one has ever claimed the prize anyway.

There are now two locations: One in Tennessee and one in Alabama. Do you think you have what it takes to be the first person to ever complete the challenge? Go to their official website and sign up!.

Don't worry, the current waiting list is merely 24,000 people long.

Haha~. I'm sure I'm not qualified to even enter the place. I like to watch my horror from a safe distance, behind the fourth wall.

From the pictures, I'd probably be dead from fear already😄. I'm a big horror movie fan but I wouldn't wanna try this to be honest. I won't make it out alive.

apparently it is very physical too, they are not beating you or anything but they do a lot of stuff to you than just try to scare you such as tying people up and even waterboarding them. The more i look into it the more I can kind of see how no one ever will get that prize :)

Wow..that haunted house is the real deal. Someone always dies in all the movies I've seen that has to do with a haunted house. Another reason why I wouldn't try it😄

"that the guests are hypnotized and this multiplies their fears."

This seems a bit unfair somehow...

I would try to convince him I am scared of puppies.

I have only been in one haunted house and except asshole jump scares it was pretty fun for me but I saw people freaking out which made it a bit more fun for me ( I am not a good person )

I would like to see his dogs if they are fat with all that food

lol, yeah the videos are pretty brutal and i think that there is a very good chance that no one will ever get the reward because they can just keep going since there is no pre-defined time frame. I don't think it is a scam because he does charge almost nothing to attend and he is already extremely wealthy from non haunted house activities.

I saw his dogs in one video, they looked well-fed haha, but he also donates a lot of the food to local shelters. He seems like an all-around good dude who just has a fascination with horror.

It will be excellent to go there with you friends since it halloween.

I'm gonna win that price😌😌😌😂. McKamey. Bring it on💪

Yep, no thanks! I don't think I would want to go near this place at all. Especially if the people can touch me. That is where I draw the line. I know they wouldn't do anything, but in the heat of the moment, I can't promise I won't let an elbow fly. If you seriously feel like you are fighting for your life, you are apt to do anything. Talk about trauma!

well after watching some of the videos i see that not only do the actors touch you, they are quite rough with you and even force things into your mouth... various gross tasting foodstuffs. Yeah, i think there is a really good reason why no one has ever won this thing. I can't believe that girl that lasted 6 hours of torment.

For sure, she has more balls than me! Actually most people do, stupid cancer :)

Sounds fucking awesome. I would fail so hard. But I would give it my best.

I assume you haven't really watched any videos...

Exactly. I'm out after watching it. Mostly for the gross feeding and the physical stress due to body problems, though. I think I wouldn't have that much problem with the terror part because I understand how the hypnosis is being induced.

Sounds fucking awesome.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

Wow, this seems awesome!! 😂 Thanks for sharing, had no idea this even existed!

I dont like dolls :c I hate scary movies with creepy dolls xD

Okay, nevermind, I don't wanna go through it. The food stuff - nvm.

I'm definitely not signing up, that's terrible 🤢

So after looking into the show some more, this is a torture show hosted by a psychopath towards other psychopaths. Hedious.

This is not a haunted house. There is a documentary on netflix and the owners of the haunted house are in this documentary. The people who run it are sick, and the people doing it usually don't have a full picture of how horrible it will be for them. Now that they are offering money im sure many more people will be interested, but what they do is NOT okay people that have done it in the past are permanently scarred for the rest of their lives.
