Agreed. And I would imagine it is even harder these days then when I worked with kids. I was a camp counselor for several years in the mid-80's, worked at various day cares in the early 90's when my first child was a baby, and then worked in the school system as an after-school teacher, just to name a few. Sadly, I watched as children at the elementary level were being lined up for their before lunch drugs. It was heartbreaking. Now with even more distractions, I cannot imagine how hard it is to keep a child's attention. Have a great summer!

I would homeschool my kids If we had the financial ability to. The public school system is beyond screwed up and I am in a more old fashioned district where we still paddle the kids.
Since I don't have a great relationship with my parents, I chose to be VERY active in my children's lives and because of that the damage that the public school system potentially could inflict was minimized. I feel sorry for the teachers and the lack of support they receive, since there are many that are talented and care about the children they are teaching. I am lucky to have two wonderful adult children...I just wish that this weird liberal agenda that is being pushed on us all at an alarmingly fast rate will hit the brick wall of sanity and reason soon. This daily train wreck on the "news" and in the general media is sometimes exhausting. Sometimes I feel like I am the only sane, normal one but I know that isn't true. The corporate news medias are just twisting everything so that it seems like crazy is the new normal.
