Cool I just found you guys and now following. Mine is to be 100% off grid. My house is about 90% off grid now. We are saving up for more solar now. But after that buying land in North Carolina Mountains. One day at a time tho lol.

Wow, that is REALLY cool!! I don't think I'll ever manage to get off-grid completely but definitely intending on using a combination of solar/wind energy, as well as reed bed system for poop and drilling a well to water the livestock at the very least. Amazing that you're at 90% - I think that's an incredible achievement!
Right now We are still buying some power from the grid. That's due to renting this old single wide mobile home and living in SC where we have days and nights that stay over 100+F about 7 to 8 ish months of the year. So we need a lot of AC.
With renting we can't do as much as I would like. So I still have to buy power to heat water and cook. If this place was mine I would have solar hot water and propain back up. For heat we would have a small wood stove.
So I have to buy power to cook heat water and run the AC. If we need it was use the close dryer. We can and do run a small AC in the day when the batts are full and we are just making a lot of power. But running an AC night after night on my small solar is a bit to much.
We do have high speed internet as well. But for the rest we take care of that here. We have 2 wells and run are well off solar. As for poo we have a septic system.
So that is why I say about 90% off grid LOL. Right now this is not where we plan to live for the rest of are life. The goal is to be 100% off grid for all are power needs water and poo. What we are doing now is trying to build up are solar so we can save that cash rather than spend it on power. So when we do move are solar will be 100% All just takes time hehhe. 39 years old hope to be in are for ever home by 45. My wifes says today tho LOL. She is ready lol.
