We began homesteading for one main purpose: to grow our own food. However, along the way we've grown more than we need of some items. Not enough to have a farmers market stand or our own regular sales outlet, but enough surplus to sell occasionally. What to do??
Well this summer our tiny town had a one-day festival with vendor booths available. We jumped on board and started getting some products packaged up to sell. These were mostly items from last year's garden that we had previously dried and stored. We ordered containers, had a logo designed, printed labels, and made things look snazzy. Our kids even made some crafts to sell at the booth.
The festival day was crazy hot, but it was a total blast getting to interact with the community and tell them about us. Our Super Hot Pepper Shake and Herbal Teas were a hit. And after the festival, a local store asked to carry a few of our items in their store. Super cool! So now whenever we have surplus, we can send it up to the store in our town and they'll sell it for us.
Here we are sweating our butts off at the festival. Our booth looks nice though. :)
