In this week's tour...I'm fortunate enough to have Pachee @thegiftofself... join me! She has usually been working when I've made previous tours...but was off today..and our parents watched River so we could share the forest with you. Enjoy the FULL VIDEO tour above.
Below...you can see the urban neighborhood we live in. It's a desert region...that rises up the meet the mountains above us. All the land you can see in the first image below has been in our family for a generation. Only in the last two decades...has it been sold....for home sites. We feel a deep connection to this land!
One of my and pachee's daily rituals..is meeting in the garden...and walking around together to see... how things are changing and growing. FEELING IT ALL! It's heaven on earth for us...and an honor to share it with you. We focus this week on many of the medicinal herbs growing on the 1/4 acre urban lot. We have spliced so many in through the years...it's almost hard to capture them all in...one video....but we try!
For those interested in learning more about how to emulate this in your urban sprawl....we recommend the work of Toby Hemenway. His two books....are a beautiful works of art! Quite a legacy...he left us city dwellers!!!!

So many members of the Raw Utah tribe...that make this food forest function...and possible. From pre-inception....as my grandparents....found and were care-takers of the land the house now sits on ....to my parents...who have helped with the home and food forest...in so so so many ways. To our current generation...of siblings who help unseen constantly...and my beloved pachee...who has been here by my side daily...running on a decade now......to our baton passing...to our son's generation. We feel so blessed to be a part of this tribe!!!! So blessed to share it with ALL of YOU...here on Steemit! Thanks for tagging along this week...and this growing season!!! We appreciate....ALL OF YOU!!!!

Aside from what's growing in the food forest this week....we show you some of the hard-scaping...we are doing right now. The local flagstone....was finally acquired....to create the pathway along the back of the home. Local volcanic cinders were scooped....to cover our pathways...that wind around the food forest...and river rock...for use in our stream...that will run down the backyard. LOTS of ACTION this week!!! Hard to capture it ALL!!! :)
The volcanic cinder lay on top...of deeply mulched wood pathways. They retain moisture...and feel incredible to walk on!!!! These are pathways...like we see in the canyons nearby. Sandy...and retaining lots of moisture!
Thanks for cruising a long...on the video and photo tour this week!!! We will be back again in one week....to share the changes in our little forest here in S. Utah!!!!

thanks sister seha!!!!!!!! i'm fascinated with persian gardens. the idea..and very word of paradise! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persian_gardens
"From the time of the Achaemenid Empire, the idea of an earthly paradise spread through Persian literature and example to other cultures, both the Hellenistic gardens of the Seleucid Empire and the Ptolemies in Alexandria. The Avestan word pairidaēza-, Old Persian *paridaida-,[note 1] Median *paridaiza- (walled-around, i.e., a walled garden), was borrowed from Semitic: Akkadian pardesu (in Semitic it means cool weather, shaded place), variants of the Akkadian word found its way into Greek Ancient Greek: παράδεισος, translit. parádeisos, then rendered into the Latin paradīsus, and from there entered into European languages, e.g., French paradis, German Paradies, and English paradise. It also evolvedTemplate:29 January 2018 in Semitic languages, such as Hebrew (pardes), and Arabic (firdaws).[3]
As the word expresses, such gardens would have been enclosed. The garden's purpose was, and is, to provide a place for protected relaxation in a variety of manners: spiritual, and leisurely (such as meetings with friends), essentially a paradise on earth. The Common Iranian word for "enclosed space" was *pari-daiza- (Avestan pairi-daēza-), a term that was adopted by Christian mythology to describe the garden of Eden or Paradise on earth.[4]
The garden's construction may be formal (with an emphasis on structure) or casual (with an emphasis on nature), following several simple design rules. This allows a maximization, in terms of function and emotion, of what may be done in the garden."
