BABY POT-BELLIED PIGS - PHOTO UPDATE

in #homesteading7 years ago

Here are a few more photos of the baby pot-bellied pigs.

We had ran out of a use for these pigs, since we will now be using a bulldozer to finish some of our projects, but, because our female was pregnant, we decided to wait until after she gave birth to get rid of these. Since she was already pregnant we thought it would be best to wait to see the little ones born first. Truthfully, it was worth it!

It was really interesting to see these babies so soon after they were born. It was cool to see how much tinier they were than the other piglets that were born on our homestead. Of course, since the other ones were mostly "Large Black" pigs and these were from much shorter, and stouter, pot-bellied pigs, the reduced size in young makes sense. Anyway, I told you I would try to get some better photos for you to check out, so here they are! Enjoy!

BABY PIGLETS!!!

Until next time…

My girl Mabel about 100 lbs ago when we first got her! Love these creatures. Thanks for posting.

@papa-pepper baby pigs are really cute! I was missing your animal content stuff! Great as always

I grew up with pot-bellied pigs and we did absolutely everything together. They had a strange affinity for paper, and would tear it up and make spitballs. This was especially fun during Christmas, and that one time I had to bring a note to class stating that my pig had eaten my homework. You're a lucky man. Take good care of 'em for me ^.^

Pigs are not that dirty. And they're smart, strange little creatures. They just need love just like everybody else.

All of them are so cute and they are growing! God bless them :)

This kind of pigs are looking different from those ones i once reared here in Nigeria.

Pig business is a lucrative one in this part of nigeria i came from (south west). Less of stress and easy to take care.

Yeah, these are potbellied pigs.

I love your post. It is good

I need the big one before Christmas time and the small ones I'll use them as piggy banks!

How adorable are they! Thanks so much for sharing, some of us live vicariously through your posts because our husbands won't let us live on a farm :)

Live vicariously! Thanks.

Thank you for recognizing the opportunity to see these tiny babies closely. Very cute and cute puppies :)

Oh my gosh! I have a mini pig (5 month old Juliana pig, her name is Zuzu) and I love meeting fellow pig owners on Steemit! Aren't they such a riot? You sure are living my dream life homesteading : ) can't wait till I have my own farm in the future

You need some nutty sounding names for the new piglets. How about "Pistachio", " Filbert" and "Macadamia"?

They really look adorable and clean... Unlike pigs

Usually pigs here have more than 10 piglets.

I love pig meat but i don't like staying close to live pig

Baby pigs are so cute! Then they get smelly and gross. Then turn into delicious BACON!! Thanks for sharing.

Ah I like the pigs! I don't know modern technology takes all the jobs these days! 💯🐒

@papa-pepper I saw the post yesterday, great news mate and look at them now. there coming on a treat. shame you have to get rid of them.
I'm going to a park tomorrow where they keep pigs, looking forward to showing my kids them for the first time.

So cute!!! I have a puppy pug and she snorts and looks like a little pig. Makes me laugh!

Adorbs!

I didn't understand this part. You were hooking them to the tractor? Ha ha ha. That's a picture I'd like to be able to Photoshop.

They are cute but I am sure you already know that @papa-pepper

Yummmm. Fresh Bacon Bits. Where is the salad?

Looks like it was worth the wait for sure.

Hey @papa-pepper! I've started a program on Steemit where I am making trophies for the Steemians who most exemplify the community with their guidance and interaction. I chose the first 3 recipients and beyond that I ask that Steemians nominate others for the award. You were my first choice along with @robyneggs and a third party who's trophy I haven't finished yet. These trophies I create are a way for me to pay respect to the people who make Steemit a great online experience.
I posted you a download link on another post but I really didn't like the rotation of the trophy so I recreated it and am giving it to you for being such a positive influence in this community.

DOWNLOAD
I will be removing this image from my imgur as soon as my original post pays out. I hope that you will accept this on behalf of myself and other Steemians who have interacted with you here. Thank You.
The post I originally replied to was of sunsets a couple of days ago. There is an image there of the trophy but the .gif link is dismantled.
Congratulations on being the first Steemit Star.
If you would like to see the announcement post you can find it on my blog. Thanks again.

So freaking cute!!! I don't see how people can eat these adorable and intelligent creatures!!!

I couldn't help sheding a tear when our piglets were born. I love pigs and can wait to get more.

aneew..see the way they sleep..it so lovely to see them cuddling to each other and sleep..i want rear a piglet at home :)

so what's the plan to 'get rid of them'? Into the freezer? Or are you giving them away to another homesteader?

I wanted to have pot-bellied pig as my pet for many years, but no one liked this idea except me:) Now I have two kids of my own and dreams about pigs long gone. :)
