Hello Everyone!

A brief introduction: Hi I am Jacob.

TL;DR: There is no tl;dr because you should have more patience and attention span than a gnat on a high wind.

The Fantastica Chronicles Day 342!

A Peculiar Dream, I Love eXode, Doing Some Head Scratching & Making Ashes

I do not know what the heck is going on with my sleep cycle at this point but I somehow managed to wake up and start my day at a little after six this morning which was quite the marked improvement going off my recent track record. Hopefully this time the pattern will repeat tomorrow and it is not just another 'one off' of waking up moderately early. I was actually reluctant to wake up fully because I was having this rather interesting dream where everything was the opposite of whatever I wanted so for instance I wanted the engine of this car that I was driving in the dream to keep running so I kept picturing it not running and it worked just fine but if I thought of it running the engine would sputter to a halt. That is just one example but the entire dream was like that including my interactions with other people which was admittedly pretty damn absurd in how events unfolded in that 'opposite world' where it could be said that up was down and down was up.

I spent some of my early morning time chatting with some of the eXode community and doing my best to sort of take in the 'broader picture' with it all and how all its 'moving parts' fit together and basically taking a deep look at how far it has come, where the development stands, how things are evolving and so forth and so on. It really is impressive to see what a single developer and a tight knit group of community volunteers can do working together towards a common goal and just how much really awesome content (as well as good ideas) can be generated by said community even at this more or less beginning stage of things where the game is still in alpha testing. The eXode universe is also rather massive and there are so many intricacies and mechanics involved that I am sure that the fictional stories that evolve within the game will be quite prolific and even rather intricate themselves. As much as I am a big fan of the game I have done my best not to spoil the fun of playing it when it is complete by learning too many of its intricacies before it is finished. The die hard gamer in me knows that the only way that I ever learn a game anyway is by actually playing it and playing it heavily.

Anyway, not long after the sun was fully up I started my usual 'head scratching' routine over exactly how I want to build this addition for storage onto my shelter and even though I have already dug a partial hole for one of the footers I still keep entertaining various ideas on doing things differently than I originally intended. When I was first thinking it over I erroneously thought that the original shelter that I plan on attaching it to was/is (eight feet) nearly three meters tall. Even though I have lived in the shelter for many months and even built it... I still forget that it is only two meters tall! So I ordered materials for that 'wrong dimension' which is fine because it gives me extra materials to work with but now I am stuck thinking about using all the materials and making the addition as large as I possibly can. The big problem with that is that I lose most of the storage space under the addition if I do that which is where I was thinking of storing a good bit of gear that is semi weather resistant and does not necessarily need to be indoors.

Now though I am thinking to just maximize the indoor space and to hell with outdoor storage and put as much stuff inside as possible and anything that will not fit inside can be put in the 'arched room' attached to the new addition. It would be nice to use the 'arched room' for other stuff like garden tools and animal feed but I might be able to squeeze a good bit of other stuff in there as well if I build some shelves and fully enclose one end of the room. I have one more day to think all that stuff over before the delivery truck comes with the building materials (unless they cancel again) so I have a little bit more time to think things over and sort of picture how it is all going to look and maybe eve have some epiphany of a better idea occur. So today I dug no more holes and just put the entire project on pause as I continue to mull over the options.

Early in the morning I wound up gathering a bunch of firewood and burning a bunch of burnables from the homestead proper and basically wound up tending the fire most of the day. I am finally starting to accumulate a good pile of ashes for the compost mound but I will still have to have several more fires before I have enough to actually layer the mound in a thick enough coat of the stuff. I am going to have to really stay on the fire thing because it is approaching late summer and early fall when the flies seem to have a massive population explosion. So far they have not been too bad this year but just the last few days I have been seeing a lot more of them buzzing around.

Well, that is about all for now and I better wrap this up before the fatigue from a long day catches up to me and I start fading towards sleepiness. I hope that everyone is doing well and has a nice day/night.

Making ashes!

Thanks for reading!

More about me: I have been doing property caretaking (land stewardship) for many years (decades) and live a rather simple life with my dogs doing what most folks would consider to be an 'alternative minimalist lifestyle' but what I often just think of as a low-impact lifestyle where I get to homestead and spend the majority of my time alone with my dogs in the woods doing projects in the warmer months and taking some downtime during the colder months.

A little over three years ago I began sharing the adventures (misadventures) of my life via writing, videos, pictures and the occasional podcasts and although my intention was to simply share my life with some friends it undoubtedly grew into much more than that over the years and now I find myself doing what equates to a full-time job just 'sharing my life' which is not even all that glamorous or anything but hey folks seem to enjoy it so I just keep doing it!

The way that the Fantastica Chronicles came about is that I was living at another place when I started chronicling and sharing my days but eventually I wound up moving to a new place. The new place is a homestead named 'Fantastica' so I started with 'Day 1' upon my arrival here and just kept documenting my days much like I had done for the previous nine hundred and fifty-seven days at the last place that I lived.

I have mostly done that 'documenting' at Fantastica exclusively with words (and pictures) opting not to do the videos because as I learned at the last place, sharing videos over an intermittent and slow internet connection is horribly time consuming and what I often think of as an 'ulcer inducing' experience. All that said, I opted for simplicity with the documentation and have no real regrets for doing so.

The way that I look at it is that I give it all my best each day and while some stuff I write is better than others I think that for the most part I do a pretty good job at doing what I am doing which is simply 'sharing my life' as candidly as I possibly can and whatever folks get (or do not get) from it there is always the satisfaction of me doing what I set out to do... which is to simply share my life.
