This is a video from Day 179 of going off-grid. I went 'off grid' six hundred and sixty-eight days ago and it has been quite the journey since I got dropped off at this old fallow farm and built (continue to build) all my own infrastructure. I have been video documenting the entire process and have just recently begun publicly sharing some of the videos. I have been sharing the videos privately since I started the entire process which I call Jacob Goes Off Grid In The Woods.
'Day 1' is the morning after I arrived at this little place in the mountains in the 'dead of winter' on January thirteenth of two thousand and seventeen with my dogs, my wits, minimal gear and very little hard currency to work with. Slowly I have done my best to breathe life into a very old farm and give it all my best, 'learning as I go', and documenting the process as best I can. It has been quite the journey so far. @jacobpeacock
In this video I talk about how I spent the day making dream catchers and show the ones that I made. I talk about how it took me nearly nine hours to make four of them and also explain how they are different than the first ones that I made.
I talk about not having a good place indoors to work on the dream catchers so I explain that I worked on them outside at the table under the shed and how I was fortunate that the wind was not blowing.
I talk about how none of the black locust seeds that I planted are growing and how it might be a failed experiment. I talk about how at least the black locust that I planted from root cuttings are doing well.
I talk about how all the blueberries and black raspberries are done for the year. I also talk about looking at the pear tree that I tethered upright and how it has lots of pears on it but they are not ripe yet.
I talk about my drinking water situation and how I do not have enough on hand for washing dishes and for drinking. I talk about how I really need to get a better supply of good water.
As always this is just a summary of the video's content and not meant to explain everything that I cover in the video.
