Taking Down the Tree - January 19, 2025 @goldenoakfarm

On Sunday morning, it was relatively warm, having rained in the night. The temperature had dipped afterwards and there were frozen water drops on the plants.

I got my post up, got a shower, and cleaned up the kitchen. Somehow my birdbrain had taken the notion my friend was picking me up at 9:30AM to go to the greenhouses. When she hadn’t arrived by 9:45AM I went to check the e-mail. 12PM noon, it said. Sigh…

So I resigned myself to taking down the Christmas tree and took off my coat and shoes and got to work.

I had gotten almost all the ornaments and garlands off except the very top and the back where I couldn’t reach. I only broke one I think, a teeny tiny green one I use in “dead” spots.

I quit at 11:45AM to get ready and eat some lunch. She arrived at noon and we discovered we couldn’t park in front as the whole area is under construction. But they had made a handicap spot up the hill so we snagged that. It was still relatively pleasant outside though the sun had disappeared.

I will do a separate post on what I found in the greenhouses. We got back around 2:30PM and I set to work editing the 91 photos I had taken. I worked on that off and on until 7PM.

The snow started just as we got home from the greenhouses and we had this much when I pulled the shades at 4:30PM. No one was sure how much we’d get; ranges were 1” – 10”.

I was in bed by 8PM.
