Collecting Christmas decorations crop Jan 2025.jpg

I had a very slow start on Saturday even though I was up at 5:45AM. I didn’t get the post up until 9AM. Then I just sat around all morning. I didn’t get started on the Christmas house decorations until 1PM. It took just over an hour to collect them from all corners of the house, a lot of walking! Then I sat down for an hour.

I was, of course, well supervised.

I got started about 3PM carefully wrapping and packing away each item. I finished about 4:15PM and sat down some more. These are ready to go upstairs.

I found the artichokes at our local co-op and ordered some and my brother would pick them up on his way home. There’ was a bit of confusion on the order, but it was straightened out and they arrived in time.

I went out just before dark at 5PM and picked the very last of the kale. I can’t believe it’s survived the really low temperatures we’ve had so far this year.

Soon the zucchini was zoodled and everything was in the pot. It cooks pretty quickly!

The hardest part was zesting the lemon. It was really delicious and I have plenty for leftovers.

The Need to Grow movie.jpg

Just before I went out to start supper I came across this in my feed. It was a free screening of the movie. So after supper I watched it. Sort of scary but nothing I didn’t know already. Here’s the link if you want to watch it. It’s pretty long, nearly 2 hours.

On Sunday I have to get going as I need a shower, need to clean the kitchen, and get ready to go to the Smith greenhouses for 9:30AM. We had hoped to go while it snowed, but the snow doesn’t start now until 5PM. The forecast is for 5” – 10” of snow, but there’s a chance it will go south of us and we will get much less. If I’m not too tired when I get home, I should start taking things off the Christmas tree. We’ll see…

Larry is working too hard these days! I also had been quite slow and having less motivation to work as my knee was painful. Today things are looking up with bright sunshine though the weather has been very cold, 12 degree Celsius at night!

12C is 56F = balmy spring weather!! We leave windows open at night at 56F. LOL It's 10F this morning and we got easily 5" of snow.

Wow! You would leave the window opened! I had to shut all the windows except one in the bathroom! Then, I bought a small heater! It was too cold for comfort! You’ll love the winter weather here! All the tree are still very green too.

Your day was productive as you attended to important chores. It's good you didn't also fail to take care of yourself by having good food and some entertainment. Thanks for the update. Happy Sunday.

It looks like you had so many Christmas decorations in the house for it to take you over one hour to get it collected but I’m glad you did that

Not so many really, but the house is so long, it takes a while to walk from one end to the other to collect them in one spot.

That was a lot for Saturday and I hope you finish your tasks on Sunday as well
Goodluck

I'm so glad you liked the shrimp and artichokes with the zoodles. I've never had zoodles but I should really learn how to make them or purchase them. It is hard sometimes with the Keto diet to think of things to make. So far we got 6" of snow overnight and it is not expected to stop. Everything is so beautiful outside. Stay safe and warm.

Zoodles are SO easy if you get the machine. This is the updated version of the one I have. I got mine off BuyNothing, and later found a second one for backup because I heard the handle you press wears out too fast.

It takes about 5 minutes from start to finish. I've found 2 medium zucchini makes enough noodles for 2 people. You want to process them right when you plan to cook them, and they only take about 5 minutes to cook. BUT! Remember to always rinse the machine RIGHT AWAY after use as the juice hardens fast and is hard to get off.

The food was beautifully cooked and delicious. It was a pleasure to watch a movie as a rest after eating.

That was a whole lots of activities for the day. Good you were able to make out time to watch movies.

I like keto things, they are much better for your stomach

It sounds like your day was quite busy! Thanks for sharing about the movie, I might check it out sometime. I hope the snow forecast turns out wrong, and you manage to get everything done!
