Crash and Eye Stye - January 4, 2025 @goldenoakfarm

On Saturday morning I woke with a stye in my left eye. I have had “dry eye” for several years and this is due to the oil ducts in the eyelid not working properly anymore. So having a stye in one didn’t surprise me, but I’ve not had a stye in decades.

Here’s an illustration. My stye is in the upper left lid but looks much like this one.

Apparently chamomile is the go to natural remedy. I had lots of chamomile but it was old.

I simmered the infusion for about 7 minutes, as I got distracted.

I poured the liquid through the fine mesh basket and it strained it really well. (The spots are from the counter design.)

I have lots of sterile pads and used one to soak my eye for about 10 minutes. It cleaned it off well and the pain was much reduced.

I got some of the stuff back into the pantry and ran out of gas. I was really tired and sore from PT on Friday. So nothing else got done all day except watch movies and doze on the couch.

My brother headed out early on Saturday morning with a friend to look at 2 used cars he’d found in CT. He ended up buying the better one, just a year older than his old one and the same kind, even though it was much more expensive than the first one he looked at. He’d brought his plates and after the dealer paid for brand new tires to be put on, he drove it home. It seems like a good car, guess he will find out.

On Sunday, I hope to get the stuff done I’d hoped to do on Saturday: finish the bills/budget and sorting the recycling box for shredding. We’ll see…
