We are living in a fire risk area. The problem is the very very dry long grass in our area and even in the middle of the winter a fire can erupt. It's most likely a man made fire because their were 3 burn spots quite far from each other. Luckily the fire truck was fast to respond because this was only 100 meters from the homestead! Respect for the firemen that pulled out fast in the middle of the f night!
We have been very lucky this time...
The next day we decided to inspect the damage with a drone. It's a nice way to have a good overview of how big the fire was.

Been there, with the fire risk and scare.
Make sure you have a good fire break. Also make sure you have some sprinklers that can sit on your roof and hoses that are long enough to run that.

Yeah, that was close! I hope everyone is fine and hopefully, whom ever started it is long gone. Look on the positive side, burned grass helps make for better soil! (sorry, that was the most positive thing I could think of for this case.)

Controlled burns don't really exist. It goes wrong way to often.

That is one thing I have never had to deal with. Not a big fan of fire. Glad your homestead was spared.
Nobody but in a landclimate with only pine and dry unfertile lands you get fires. In our area it happens to sometimes have no rain for 3-4 months in summer...
The winter fires aren't so bad it's mostly the tops of grass that ''freeze dried'' hole winter. That's why I made pictures instead of helping out.
