This is a simple yet practically perfect blade for day-to-day use and carry. The blade is 3.5in, so it's big enough to do 90%+ daily tasks, yet not so big to be heavy/bulky or illegal to carry. It is small but substantial. The handmade 100% leather sheath allows for quick and easy drawing and re-sheathing of the blade all day.
The blade was first hardened up to 63HRC, then tempered down to 60HRC to give it an even solid tempering. The hardening process is done in an automatic and controlled environment with the help of a vacuum oven for heating and Nitrogen gas for quenching. The result is a high quality, reliable blade.

Yes if you're out in the woods or it's the only blade you have, it will do for cutting veggies for cooking, but there are other shapes and sizes of knives that are better suited for cooking. This is a more utilitarian knife for everyday uses.

Yes this made of steel. There are different steel types in the 10XX series commonly used in knife making depending on the carbon content. 1080 like this blade is on the harder side. Something like 1040 is softer but tougher/more durable; 1090 is harder but potentially more brittle.

A knife is an incredible tool with countless uses, of course a weapon of death is just one of them. This blade is relatively small so it's not ideal for killing large game unless you're very skilled. Would be appropriate for butchering chickens.
