RE: Homesteading Reality: Your Beautiful Land May Be Filled With Trash.

Yea but honestly when the platform start having too many real good bloggers then content like this will be looked up to. Full blogs with real thought. I dont see dmania and other quick blog apps surviving long term. There will be too much competition from real bloggers for those likes and resteems. Bandwidth also plays a huge roll. It will change and we will get smt to help guide our platform in the right direction. I truly believe @ned and the team have a vision for that to be the case. Otherwise steemit will die and engulf itself.

Sort:

SMT - had to go look it up. Smart Media Tokens. Can you give me your synopsis on how you think that will help guys like me and you? @mikehamm may want to check this out too.

Well from what i’ve discerned its going to help steemit evolve from simply its main page it will allow for icos to be hedged with tokens and open up a fiat gateway to steemit so that global adoption is possible. No more waiting 2 weeks for an account. Algorithms will be in play so that kyc can happen to fast track account creation and incentivize real bloggers to actually participate here. It will take away the benefit of being a lazy money grabber. Leadig to a flourishing community of intelligence and learning. Community. Here is an excellent breakdown i read from a couple months ago! Super well put together. Explains the benefits. https://steemit.com/smt/@slavix/hidden-gems-of-the-smart-media-tokens-white-paper

Hey, I'm just the new guy, but unless there is something to level the playing field (and I'm no socialist just so you understand although that statement sounds like it) it seems to be that SMT will just create fiefdoms... where people will "work" for the whales. I've got some thoughts on fixing some of the abuse (as I understand them) issues... and focusing votes on the quality of content . But I'm the newbie, so take it for what it is...

Im also just a newby too. Trust me. I believe in democracy and the power of people it just needs to stop being so centralized and we need to stop playing the telephone game with our governers. Have you watched the movie the circle ⭕️ thats how i see steemit.

I've seen the movie and then read the book. I wasn't satisfied with the ending of either one so maybe I'm just a malcontent. BTW, the book is a LOT racier than the movie. Yikes. LOL.

For me blockchain essentially our chance at making the people above us transparent and accountable. So the flow of resources can no longer be damned up and there are no more hungry children. Instead of funding wars based on broken promises, and the fear of the unknown.

Systems, programs and accountability won't fix those problems. Those are human heart issues. For me it's about making the voice of the "other" (little people, unpopular opinions, outlawed speech) more difficult to shut down. That's a double edged sword (but only on the surface and only to those who have limited capacity to reason) because that means I support even the nutters rights to spew their hate and not have it shut down. I believe the price of freedom is that we have a marketplace for ideas, ideologies and beliefs and that there are good and bad of all of those and they should be debated vigorously.

I plan on writing about that idea in the future (it's on writing ideas google.doc... LOL) but ultimately, my faith is not in man and his systems. SOMEONE has write access to the code, and I don't know any perfect people. Systems will fail us. It doesn't mean we don't try to make them better, but (for me) the circle was a HORRIBLE life experience and the only person that really resonated with me was the forlorn guy who had been banished to the friend zone... and even he they toned down in the movie to weaken the character.

I don't have a belief that the collective is right and moral. I believe that an individual is a WONDERFUL, THOUGHT-FILLED, THINKING, SENTIENT being... but the collective, the crowd is dangerous. Group thought isn't moral. The rights of the individual need to be protected. I see Steemit as making it more difficult to shut down those rights... and THAT'S one of the reasons I'm here.

One other thing... I can guarantee you that the people above you right now (the whales) aren't transparent just because you can see blockchain transactions. Crypto is only good for anything if it's good for something... something tangible. The tangible is that stuff you can buy. You can be a crypto billionaire and the first time the lights go out, you'd trade it all for a jar of peanut butter and bread... :)

The most important thing we possess is our eternal soul... and if we value other people in THAT economy, the economy of the soul, it's amazing what will do out of LOVE and not fear of transparency.

:) Sorry, I'm starting to preach! :)
