Ongoing Tests for Luke - Today The MRI!

in #homesteading7 years ago

If you've been following along you know that Luke is my special needs son. He is a true blessing and joy to our family and everyone that meets him just falls in love! His mom, @findingjoy , is very diligent to take care of him and to chase down all leads for finding all the medical information possible to know better how to help Luke.

Over the last year Luke has regressed in all areas of life. He talks less, sleeps less, drinks less, eats less. He lives more "to himself". Often he just stands and stares. Since most of this regression has happened starting in January 2017 when he was hospitalized with pneumonia, we are exploring the possibility of changes in his brain. There's only one way to know... the MRI.

Enough questions have been asked about Luke's brain that we figured it was time to just get the test to give the answers needed. We tried initially today to do the test without sedation, but it was just too hard to sit still for the 20 to 30 minutes needed for the scan. Reluctantly mama gave in and agreed to the sedation medicines. Here is Luke on his way into the room to go to sleep 😷 😴

Luke handled the test and recovery like a champ! He was up and ready very quickly after the procedure. The docs said he did great! He was very thirsty right away. It didn't take long for him to finish 4 cups of apple juice! I bet after all that those cups of juice tasted great.

It's kinda funny too that Luke was a bit smiley and giggly about 30 minutes after waking up. I wonder if he thought it was all funny or if it was just the drugs wearing off? We asked him what that was attached to his hand so he picked up the end of the tube and looked into it and giggled.

His number one request when we left was a soda. So we stopped on the way home and had some french fries and soda.

Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes from those of you who saw this on Instagram and Facebook! You are a very encouraging and loving group.

This is us just minutes ago. Luke looks fantastic! Dad has a bit of red nose due to the continued battle with allergies. The photo is slightly blurry, sorry.

Thank you for sharing this time with me!

When will you get the results?

My family will be praying for yours and especially your son. Thank you for sharing your story. It gives hope and encouragement to me and my family

My God bless you all.

Glad things went smoothly. Hopefully the results turn up something constructive.

What a blessing! I know those kids teach us a lot about ourselves and expand our ability to be selfless! Good to see you may be getting deeper understanding about Luke's state of mind! Shalom

Hopefully you will get the answers you are looking for! Lean on the Father and trust in Him!

You sir are a inspiration, i'm still young 23 years, i have no plans to have any kids atm, still i sometime think about how it would be to have a kid with special needs and get afraid that i would never be able to do it, give him the attention he needs and the care he needs, looking at you and how you deal with all the problems that arise makes me more secure that i too would be able to do it, after all we humans have the ability to deal with any hardship that life throws our way

I hope you get some good insight from the MRI. You are all amazing! Much love and prayers.

So glad to see him doing well, and Dad is weathering the storm. Hope Mom is doing well. Love you guys.

Glad Luke recovered quickly after the procedure. I hope they can decipher what has caused his regression.

Sending you all prayers for healing and blessings of compassion
